Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problem is NOT just the Diaphragm THE PROBLEM IS THE HUNTER VALVE design overall, not just the diaphragm. Or maybe the diaphragm IS the problem, but there are no other alternatives for this valve. As an irrigation repair contractor, I see these small, flimsy Hunter valves as having more reliability problems than other brands -- especially the problem of the valve getting stuck on. Using this diaphragm for replacement is usually the solution if there's a mechanical problem with the valve. Overall the electrical solenoids are seldom the problem, but either the valve top half ruptures from high water pressure or the diaphragm wears out. A new Hunter PGV or similar valve typically lasts 6-8 years without trouble, compared with 12-15 for most other brands. Rain Bird DVF 1" valves are my preferred brand. If you can change the diaphragm yourself, I suggest replacing them in every valve in your system all at once, once troubles start, for peace of mind and relative system reliability. A valve that sticks on costs a lot more in wasted water than a few replacement parts. If electrical current at the valve is normal but the diaphragm replacement doesn't work, try replacing the whole top half of the valve and all internal and electrical parts. And don't forget to waterproof the wire connections (electrician's tape is NOT the answer).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best price. Quick fix In Arizona, the life of these things varies greatly. I have replaced the entire guts with a brand new, and the diaphragm refused to function after about a year. Apparently, there has been a series of problems with rubber products in recent years. I just discovered that the diaphragm is the culprit for malfunctioning valves. They seem to lose their flexibility. Replacing the diaphragm is cheaper than the alternative. They are warranted for two years. Please notify Hunter of premature failures. Home depot has the best price I could find.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Be careful of used items Product itself works well. A brand new item comes with a sealed bag. If you get a opend bag, be sure to check the quality .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved Me Had system opened in yard and had to replace diaphragm. Rain was coming and I wanted to finish. For $5, I got the Hunter made part by simply driving to Home Depot. Finished repair and buttoned everything up. All went well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from PGV Diaphragm Installs in minutes & worked fine, but failed after only 14 months. The original diaphragms were installed at least 3 & possibly 8-9 years ago. I'll have to try another brand unless someone can explain such a short life.
