Customer Questions & Answers

WHy in the worls would you stock an item like this, and not stock the repair kits. Seems logical.

Asked by: wyoavsfan
It's honestly cheaper to buy a brand new backflow then it is to buy the repair kits. Lastly if your backflow is only lasting you 1-2 years you're not having it winterized properly or you're waiting to late in the year water freezes at 32 degrees they are plastic parts it doesn't take much of a freeze for those to crack and break

can it be turned?

Can I spin this around so the top is facing right instead of left? Looking at my photo I'm hoping to just cut the PVc at the lower spots and reuse after attaching the new back flow preventer then reattach with couples. Or should i run a few turns to get it to match up on the correct side?
Asked by: Mike
As long as the PVB is still upright it'll work fine, the only problem is that the test ports will be facing the wall which will create a problem for your testing technician every year (if your local water authority is enforcing annual test requirements). Just make sure that the PVB is 12" higher in elevation than any of the sprinkler heads on that line. Source: certified backflow prevention assembly technician.

In Home depot web site, it shows that you do carry the items and have stocked at your outlets but why your stores can not locate them? !

Home depot store says that they do not carry the Watts product anymore!

The product installs very nicely and appears to have all the required features. However, this is the same valve/brand that busted this past winter. I had closed the valves and had opened the bleed valves, but apparently some water remained. Overall not a bad product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1"vac breaker - manufactured defect Just bought it and installed it; just to have to take it off. The plastic spring valve housing was cracked w/ a tiny fissure. Will see if i can raise rating, since i have to go back to HD exchange, and also, buy a another pvc fitting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cap only lasted 1 year I bought this valve to replace my 10 year old plastic one. Thinking it was metal it would last longer. Wrong, I removed and stored it inside for the winter when I reinstalled it the plastic cap was cracked and sprays water everywhere. I expected it to last more than a year, and repair parts are not available at the local store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watts makes it good As a master plumber, I got to purchase and install products that I can rely on. I've already installed a bunch of this so far. If part gets winterized properly, will last a long long time. Watts is a brand well known and trustworthy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Water valve pressure breaker I had to replace one that went bad with the same model. Due to the spacing of the pipes it was important to get the same valve if I did not want to create a lot of extra work. The old valve quit working after 3 years. An attempt to conduct maintenance on the old valve was futile.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a winter valve This valve has a great feature for back flow prevention. Has two drains for winter to prevent freeze breaks. I recommend this product if you live in an area where the temperature never drops below freezing. Otherwise you will probably have to replace it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won't last through a Northeast winter I go through 1 of these every winter....even with the drains it wont evacuate every drop of water, expect to be replacing it if you live where it goes below freezing for an extended period. Also it's always out of stock at my local HD, probably because everyone wants to buy a new one in the spring each year. You'd think they would stock up, but no.
