Answer:
It's honestly cheaper to buy a brand new backflow then it is to buy the repair kits. Lastly if your backflow is only lasting you 1-2 years you're not having it winterized properly or you're waiting to late in the year water freezes at 32 degrees they are plastic parts it doesn't take much of a freeze for those to crack and break

Can I spin this around so the top is facing right instead of left? Looking at my photo I'm hoping to just cut the PVc at the lower spots and reuse after attaching the new back flow preventer then reattach with couples.

Or should i run a few turns to get it to match up on the correct side?

Answer:
As long as the PVB is still upright it'll work fine, the only problem is that the test ports will be facing the wall which will create a problem for your testing technician every year (if your local water authority is enforcing annual test requirements). Just make sure that the PVB is 12" higher in elevation than any of the sprinkler heads on that line.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Watts makes it good As a master plumber, I got to purchase and install products that I can rely on. I've already installed a bunch of this so far. If part gets winterized properly, will last a long long time. Watts is a brand well known and trustworthy June 21, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Won't last through a Northeast winter I go through 1 of these every winter....even with the drains it wont evacuate every drop of water, expect to be replacing it if you live where it goes below freezing for an extended period. Also it's always out of stock at my local HD, probably because everyone wants to buy a new one in the spring each year. You'd think they would stock up, but no. May 18, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Water valve pressure breaker I had to replace one that went bad with the same model. Due to the spacing of the pipes it was important to get the same valve if I did not want to create a lot of extra work. The old valve quit working after 3 years. An attempt to conduct maintenance on the old valve was futile. October 14, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Different Brand in Stores Drove to two Home Depot stores today trying to buy this product. The product in the stores was by "Wilkins", not "Watts" even though the SKU matched. I found the same Wilkins model $40 less online elsewhere while the Watts version is priced similar to this. I'd be hesitant to order this online as you might get the cheaper brand model. June 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product by Watts This product really helped me out of a code issue bind. August 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cap only lasted 1 year I bought this valve to replace my 10 year old plastic one. Thinking it was metal it would last longer. Wrong, I removed and stored it inside for the winter when I reinstalled it the plastic cap was cracked and sprays water everywhere. I expected it to last more than a year, and repair parts are not available at the local store. April 8, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a winter valve This valve has a great feature for back flow prevention. Has two drains for winter to prevent freeze breaks. I recommend this product if you live in an area where the temperature never drops below freezing. Otherwise you will probably have to replace it. January 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a great PVB! I think this is a great PVB, and it was easy to install. The bronze construction makes it durable, and serviceable for years. Well worth the money. July 30, 2013
