Customer Questions & Answers

What is the gauge or thickness?

Asked by: ViperEye
The advertised description, "O. D. 1.12 inches." is NOT CORRECT! I called ahead to make sure they had this on-hand, drove about 30 miles, and spent about 2 hours, to find that this pipe (SKU#301337) at my local Home Depot is 'standard galvanized water pipe' with an O. D. of 1.32 inches (note the "Product height"). I'm NOT a 'happy camper.'

Is this pipe weldable

Asked by: jakey123
Very. I have welded a lot of this material with an arc welder. I used a hole saw to make the perpendicular (90 degree) joints. You could just hammer one end flat and weld it that way, mine was prettier. I have heard that welding galvanized is VERY unhealthy with the chemicals released. Arc welding fumes aren't good for you either. Not sure how much worse the galvanized makes it.
