Customer Questions & Answers

Is the 1x4 common board good to be used for interior trim and moulding purposes?

Asked by: Joe
I used this board for the trim in my finished basement around doors and bottom of walls. I used the 1x10 boards to finish the ceiling for a rustic look, and the matching trim looks great. It also handles better than the fabricated pressed boards that they are selling now for trim and moulding.

hi, I'm interesred if these boards are enough dry and ready to use? or they need to be dried more? thank you

Asked by: ha
Sometimes they leave them outside or when getting trucked in the get wet, so you need to check. The ones I got were nice and dry and ready to use. If you get wet ones you should dry them out before using. Stack them on top of each other and put a small piece of wood or really anything between the boards about every 2' to let air circulate around them and that will help dry them out

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quality of lumber These boards are nicer than the number 2 lumber that they use to carry at the Home Depot I buy from. They are not as nice as the select lumber that they handle there. I did have to go through the pieces to select ones that were not cupped, twisted or warped, but then I didn't have to go through that many to find the ones I liked. They are planed to a nice finish. Some have knots in them, but they were very small and all had some nice grain look to them. These boards are a lot nicer than the boards they have handles in the past. They call these whitewood, but to me it still looks like pine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Basic board. I purchased these with the intent of cutting them into approximately 2’ long pieces to close off the space between my trusses (bird blocking). For this purpose, these boards worked really well. They cut easily, without splitting on my chop saw. Installation was a bit trickier as I had to use a finish nail to keep the wood from splitting since these are only a 1x4. The selection at the store had some straight ones and some not so straight ones. I wasn’t choosy because of my application but if someone wanted really straight boards, they would need to pick through the stack. Overall, these worked well for my application.
