Customer Questions & Answers

are these up to par with cedar boards?

How are they treated?
Asked by: Funk
They look nicer. Maybe for a fence over a concreted area assuming you will be frequently re-treating it. For longivity? No.

Is this 3/4 thick or an inch? Says it is an inch in heading yet 3/4 in description. You loose a quarter inch in prep or is description wrong?

Asked by: JonB
Standard specified measurements of 1 inch are "always" 3/4" actual. Just like all other measurements above 1 inch are always 1/2 inch less. As in 2x4, 2x6, etc, etc... You can have a sawmill special order your exact measurements at about double the cost if you like. You pick. Standard measure, or special order from manufacturer or "speciality" company. Been like this for over 66 years that I know of. (I have worked on some 100 plus year old homes that had some wood at 1 inch equals 1 inch, and 2x4s were actually 2 inches by 4 inches.)

Is your 1" x 6" x 6' Pressure Treated Pine air or kiln dried?

Also the lesser priced pressure treated white pine 5/8" x 5.1.2" x 6' is that air dried or kiln driedx
Asked by: FixerUpper
They kiln dry the board then pressure treated. They do not dry it again. Cox Lumber is PTed then kiln dried again but that is dimensional Lumber not pickets. They do air dry their timbers, however, as ki ln drying causes too much cracking.
