115-Volt PowerClean Evaporative Cooler Purge Pump

Product Overview

The PowerClean Purge Pump is the best product on the market for preventing scale and mineral buildup in your evaporative cooler. It does this by automatically flushing out the cooler's old water at regularly timed intervals. Without it, scale will continually build up in the cooler pads, restricting the flow of cool air. The Purge Pump ensures against this by regularly flushing the old water out through the cooler drain and replenishing the cooler with fresh water. This 115-Volt Purge Pump does not replace the regular pump but works alongside it.

  • For use with all brands of residential and commercial roof-top and window-mount coolers
  • Motor has thermal overload protection and a flame-retardant housing for safety
  • Regular pump attaches to the purge pump to activate the timer
  • Includes mesh pump basket, mounting bracket, 30 in. drain hose, and overflow pipe adapter for easy setup
  • 5 minute flush cycle is activated automatically after every 8 hours of cooler run time

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent way to keep corosion down The only real problem with this system is the cooler 'dumps' all water in the system every 8 hours. It was a good approach to keeping the corrosion down, Until the water shortage became dire in the Mojave Desert. September 8, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Returned the Pump The pump does what it says but wasn't able to adjust the water flow to make it efficient even to justify. It pumps water for 7 mins and your are unable to adjust the time either. It pump 20+ gal of water 3 times a day. Just to much water waste!!! June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Purge pump Only lasted 3 months last year. Installed it this year after cleaning last year and it wont purge. Not worth $54. June 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money My purge pump quit running after 3 months. It is a complete waste of money. It is also interesting how it states water damage voids the warranty and it is for indoor use only. I am not sure what use they had in mind when they designed this pump but I am pretty sure it is supposed to sit in water in an evaporative cooler outside. October 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great success in getting rid of stinky smell in evaporative coolers. Easy to install. Clean water running through cooler and no more fishy smell and no need to replace filters as often. September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dial Power-Clean The only catch to using a Power-Clean Purge Pump is to ensure you install the discharge hose adapter (Item 5 on the Installation diagram). This adapter serves as an anti-siphon valve and if it is not installed, you will lose water continually due to the siphon effect created when the pump operates. So, when the pump shuts off after 5-7 minutes, water will continue to flow indefinitely. Not a big deal, unless you are trying to conserve water and reduce usage as we here in California are being forced to do. I saw a couple posts stating they had experienced increased water usage and were disappointed in the performance of the pump. I suspect they may have omitted installing the adapter/anti-siphon valve. Other than this, Power-Clean Purge Pumps work great and you will definitely see a difference in the condition of pads or media (MasterCool) at the end of the season. May 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good Idea poor execution I have been a Desert Rat for over 40 years so I know evaporative coolers. We all hate scale build up, But this is not the product to lessen it. 1. I have owned this for over 3 months to give it a chance. 2. My water bill has DOUBLED 3. It has NOT lessened scale build up. In fact it is worse. This pump drains the pan for 7-8 minuets every 8 hours. The only adjustment is by using an optional drain clamp. Even with the clamp almost totally closed your pads still get dried out, which causes more scale build up. For the price of this pump there should be a time adjustment for the length of purge and time adjustment between purges. Maybe if these functions are included in the next model I will give it a try. Meanwhile this one is going back. July 30, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would not recommend. Can't say as I am very happy with this pump. I went through 3 in one season. I completely protected the pump from water yet had plenty of air for cooling. They still burned up. The cost is high per unit. It's much cheaper to use a bleed off. Admittedly, living in Phoenix during the summer puts a lot of work on the pump but 3 in one season . . . I don't think so. F.Y.I. the regular pump continues working great season after season. April 26, 2013
