Needed some storage containers that were heavier duty than the usual home use snap on lid type. This unit fit the bill. They will hold a fair amount of stuff and that's what I was looking for. My wife wanted this smaller size so that she could carry one if she needed to. The other larger size ones get kind of heavy when they are fully loaded. Quality seems to be fine for home use. I wouldn't think that it could withstand constant commercial abuse but I don't expect them to.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jim Amazing for moving
After my first move I knew cardboard boxes would add up. Little did I know life would have me move twice and store all my stuff for just shy of 2 years. I bought mine in 2014 (December)
I mean they are plastic boxes. That are cheap. I bought about 20-30. Only a few have broken in the 2 years mostly due to me overloading them in the POD and during the 1500 mile trip back to my home state. I am not sure what these other reviewers expected. For 10 bucks this is the best you can buy. A failure rate for a 1200 mile load is better then anything else you can buy. 5%

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NC Replaced a Good Crate with an Inferior Product
I bought a ton of these crates a few years ago - they were heavy duty and lasted (still going strong). When I returned to get a more a year or two later I noticed they were a cheaper plastic but still decided to give them a try (despite the price going up too). It seems that Home Depot started making this product, vs. selling the higher quality item made by another company. These new ones are really cheap and flimsy - Now ALL of my newer crates are busted, despite having years of less use than the old kind. Even with hardly any weight you can't make a stack of two or three! The tops bust around the hinge and sort of cave in. It's very disappointing. Pretty representative of the general decline of quality in America and companies making things cheaper and cheaper. Don't think people don't notice -- because we do. I will not buy this product ever again.

These totes are absolutely not commercial grade. I wouldn't stack them more than 3 or 4 high depending on the weight of the items inside. I had one split down the corner and another started bulging with less than 25 pounds on top of it.
If your looking for totes similar to what retailers ship items in, these are not it. Search for "Distribution Tote with hinged lid" and expect to spend around $20 each. THOSE are commercial grade. You can store 100 pounds in each and stack them 4 high.
If you plan on storing light items and going 1 or 2 high, these will probably work ok for you, but you can get totes for $5-6 for that purpose.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by netman86 Not good anymore
A few years ago I bought about 30 of these over the course of a summer, as I had built custom shelving and printed big labels to organize my various projects and generally get my life in order (well, somewhat in order anyway!)
Near the end of the summer, they switched the same UPC barcode to a similar product- made in usa. The new ones do not stack with the old ones, and are made of a thinner plastic. The lids are not reinforced as much, and the hinges tend to break. The old ones were made in canada.
I find myself looking for more of these- but wont buy the ones the depot sells anymore. These cost 10 a pop- but are worth maybe 5. The old ones were easily worth 8 or 9.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mark Not 'commercial' grade
The "commercial" description of the item is not really applicable. It is not a heavy duty type of container as the plastic durability is not that tough. I had planned to use a bunch of these to store and lug tools, paint cans etc., which can still be done but I don't expect the container to last long. If you need a tote that will store things like Christmas decorations, this is fine. Or, if you do not plan on moving/transporting it around a lot, obviously it will hold up better. You have to be careful stacking things on the closed lid, as heavy objects may cause the flip top to sag.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tilepainter much better than cardboard boxes
This a a standard plastic tote box in opaque gray plastic. The website makes it look transluscent - it is not. I like the attached lids - you can't loose them. These are not really tough enough for heavy outdoor use, but for indoor storage they are ideal - they nest for compact storage when empty, and stack when loaded, and will never rot out and spill everything like a cardboard box inevitably will. Transparent models let you see what is inside, but the transparent plastic is not as tough and impact resistant.
12 gallons is the perfect size for the car - fits right behind the back seat in the hatch. That is where this one is going to spend most of its time, and the fact that you can't see what's inside is a plus.
