Customer Questions & Answers

Is there any metal besides screws in this fan? Is the cage also plastic? Thanks

Asked by: Janehernandez
The cage and body are plastic. The shaft is metal, so you can't smuggle it through a metal detector.

Is there a plunger like item on the back of the fan to make it NOT move from side to side/?

I intend to put the fan on a heavy duty timer to begin functioning about 7 a.m. and go off about 7.p.m. It is to push the cool air from the A/C floor vent and circulate it more.
Asked by: Peaches
Yes there is and the fan osculates at 180 degrees.

I think the price should of been a little cheaper like the white fan $9.99 (white was out of stock). The black one $14.99 My son has the same one and he brought his last summer and it still working. I do recommend this one even though it doesn't have a brand name

This fan is not quiet enough for sleeping. I have three of these (why?) from different years and they all are not quiet (I don't use them during sleeping) . In addition to the unquiet air noise there is also an airplane-propeller-like sound on top of the air noise. If you're not looking for a "quiet" fan, with a metal grill, that is inexpensive and functions, then this may be a suitable fan for you. [P.S.: I have a 2003 Home Depot/Hampton Bay fan, Model No. TP121A, which is the same size and very similar to the above fan, and it is much quieter; go figure! I like this old fan better!]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good fan Need a desktop fan, can't beat this fan for it's price. Went shopping at our local Home Depot for other items, found this fan for $8.88, said to my wife "Even if this fan lasts for just a few years, then stops working, we got our money's worth". Assembled it (easy) in a few minutes placed it and plugged it in, works quitely, smoothly (no vibrations), oscillates smoothly. Worth the $8.88.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but Noisy Fan We purchased two of them last month (July 2014) for our bedrooms. They are white, no black as the photo indicates. We believe they are 2013 models and the reason they are white, and they sold for only $10.88 when the black one is selling for $14.99. However, even at the lowest speed, it is a bit too noisy for me -- a lot noisier than my 15-year old 16" stand fan (Brand: Windmere) at the same speed. But for the price and the nice white color, it was an excellent buy. I do wish Home Depot put a logo on the front grill so it doesn't look so plain and generic. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice fan Assembled in under 3 minutes from the sealed box. Of course, I skipped the instructions. Quiet, very low vibration, nice oscillation engagement. Unlike some of my other table top fans: You can reposition the fan left and right on the base with a bit of a ratcheting sound. This may or may not wear the gears some. The fan doesn't start oscillating or clicking and popping when you turn the fan left and right on the base. The front fan guard doesn't need to be precisely aligned for assembly. The fan can be angled downward more than our other fans, but not upward as much. The cord comes out the back so that fan isn't always sitting on (and likely wearing through the insulation) the cord.
