Which post base fits these?

This question is from 12 in. x 8 in. x 12 in.Concrete Pier Block

Okay, so I got four of these to build a small pergola type structure, and they are in the ground, ready to go. I have 4 post bases, the 4X4/12-gauge galvanized ones (Model # EPB44PHDG/Internet # 100506799/Store SKU # 621044). Those do NOT readily fit the hole on the pier. I mean: I could take a sledgehammer to it and bang the thing in, but it seems like I'd have to use so much force that I'd damage either the block or the bracket. And then I'm sunk, as I am NOT taking the blocks back out... Options I'm looking-at are 1) to use a smaller gauge post base and set it in epoxy (which removes the whole utility of keeping it adjustable), or 2) use a hammer drill to open-up the hole a bit. Very frustrating as I was told at the time of order that this combination would work.
