Can i use this edge band for 3/4 inch plywood ?

Can i use this edge band on a 3/4 inch plywood? pardon my math, just want to know if this would be thinner than 3/4 inch or thicker than 3/4 inch(if thicker i can sand it or trim it) Thanks in advance for your time and response.

Are there any splices in band? If so, what is the length of the splice?

Asked by: Matt
It does have splices every 8' or so. Burch doesn't have much grain so most of the time it blends well enough that you don't have to work around it.

Once applied, is it waterproof? Outdoor use.

I can't answer with certainty but I can make an assessment based on my wood working experience. As a wood product you would have to use a sealer such as Spar Urethane in order to protect wood from direct exposure to water. As for the adhesive I simply don't know what kind of adhesive this product uses and therefor can not comment on how well it will withstand exposure to water. However, there are very few adhesives that can withstand direct, recurring contact with water. The adhesives that can withstand water exposure will advertise such properties. Even if the adhesive is not water proof you can still protect it from water exposure by applying Spar Urethane over your entire project therefor creating an impervious layer all over. Your best bet would be to contact the manufacturer, visit their website or perhaps even asking a Home Depot associate(not the best option).

13/16 in. x 25 ft. Birch Edge Tape is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Edgebanding The CEDAN brand recently replaced Band-It brand in your stores (at least in Bel Air, MD). The CEDAN brand is roll cut whereas the Band-IT brand was sliced. In addition the CEDAN brand appears to be thinner than the Band-IT brand. And finally it is 7/8" wide instead of the 13/16" which makes the trim tool harder to use. I don't care what the brand name is that you sell as it is a commodity but I do care about the result. Commodities have standards that must be enforced. Using this wider and thinner, rolled cut veneer is virtually impossible to trim as it literally shreds and tears because of the combination of characteristics I have described. Just look at the edges of production rolled cut, veneer plywood and you often see the same issues. The grain is literally changing cm by cm. Recommend that you change suppliers and check/enforce quality/specifications.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from And my wife says I don't iron... Building desk drawers from 1/2" birch plywood I decided to disguise the fact I used plywood by adding banding to the ends. This iron-on product looks great, sticks well and didn't leave any residue on the iron. I would have given it 5 stars but prefer using the self-sticking banding which HD doesn't carry. It just takes more time to apply this plus there is that whole ironing thing. I have applied a lot of edging through they years and always struggle with trimming the sides after it is glued until purchasing a specialty trimmer. If you plan to do a lot of banding and want it to look great invest in a Quad Trimmer for $20 or similar product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only good if used as is I used this to patch over a very rough surface. But when latex paint was applied this expanded and warped. If you use it, just apply it and keep the Birch surface as is. It's raw wood.
