my trees are 18 ft apart how high do I put the eye bolts

Asked by: Teri
I would not put eye bolts in a tree. Posts, yes, but not a living tree. Look for a canvas strap to wrap around the tree securely and fasten the hammock to that. As the tree grows make sure the strap is secure but not so tight as to cut in to the tree. That would kill the tree.

13 ft. Cotton Rope Hammock is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too stretchy, you get what you pay for! I have always purchased Pawley hammocks and end up replacing them because they stay out in the weather all year. This time I went for this cheaper model since I knew it would only last the season. Major difference in quality! The ropes on this hammock are much thinner, and the whole thing has way too much "stretch" to it. We installed it on a hammock stand and clipped the hammock on without using any of the chain extension---in other words, as tight as we could install it. With one person lying in it, it stretches down to about a foor off the ground, and the whole hammock "wraps" around you like a cocoon. After this is in use, it will probably be unusable as I'm sure it will stretch even more. Back to Pawley next time!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth your money I have a hammock stand and have had about 5 hammocks total in life. This one was worthless and was returned. Upon original set up, it held taught but sunk to the ground when I got in. After three stretches I ran out of chain to tighten it. The hammock stretched taught and level at about 4 ft off the ground but upon getting in, it sunk to borderline touching the ground again and was just awkwardly encompassing. Maybe if you took the time to soak and try to shrink the cotton ropes you might get some improvement, but the poor quality of the ropes makes me doubt that this hammock would even last a full season. I highly doubt I had a defect in my hammock. I think the hammock itself is the defect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too stretchy. But ok. Tried this hammock with the hammock stand from homedepot. The rope lets you sink in when laying down. It stretched so much that I was on the ground. I returned it for the cloth one and it was way better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sits on the ground! I bought this hammock with the hammock stand that was sold with it. The hammock, even without the extension chains and just hung by the main O-ring, hung clear to the ground! It was ridiculous. Our 10 year old son got into it and sat on the ground. Forget the fact that this hammock claims to hold 2 adults, even an 80 lb. child will be sitting on the ground. SO ANNOYING!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sank to ground Trust the reviews... It sank to the ground no matter how tight we pulled it. I agree... Don't even sell them be cuz it won't even work for a baby.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from seems fine Replacement for one that rotted out in the awful south Texas heat, rain, humidity and insects. This one is through its first summer sitting outside, and seems fine so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too stretchy Bought this and had several friends help put it up. Pulled it as tight as it would go on a stand that has had Pauley's Islands hammock on it previously. Had a 3 year old sit on it and it almost touched the floor. Wouldn't even hold one adult up in the air. Had to return it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hammock, did exactly as the instructions said it would. I am a large woman, and have wanted a hammock for years. When I saw this I thought it was too good to be true. I read the reviews and nearly passed, however, I couldn't resist the price. I got it, and followed the instructions exactly for installation. Yes, it is on the hook, and it did stretch, but it said that would happen. I find it very sturdy and comfortable. I am close to the ground, but in no way dragging. I am really happy I bought this, read the instructions, followed them, and formed my own opinion. It is going to be a nice summer.
