Rated 4 out of 5Â by UncleTonoose Unit is not as portable as it would seem
The air conditioner is heavy for a portable. The first trick is to get it inside your house. The second is to get it to the second floor. You may need help. The boxes are heavy.
Read the directions before you begin. You may need an separate power outlet. You will needs something to cut the plastic window slides. You may need to build up your window sill to meet the window slide.
Despite directions to go clockwise, you may need to go counter-clockwise in part of the installation. Good luck getting the plastic window slides not to pop out if you shift the unit.
As for cooling, it seemed to work well during a brief heat spell we had. It seems durable. It is on wheels although switching it from window to window is not going to be easy (see sill and plastic slides above).
Installation is not for the frail or elderly. Portability is replaced by not needing to lug a window a/c from storage to the window.
We installed three of these units. The first one was terribly difficult but by the third one we got the hang of it.

This product is very loud. The label claims 58Db, while in reality when we started it up it was so loud we had to scream to hear each other. I would say over 100Db for sure. Sounds like a lawn mower, not usable for a bedroom.
Further, the room was at ~68F. The heater worked for a few mins and stopped, when clearly room temperature was still much lower then set 75F. Could not get it to get our fairly small room (~200sq ft) to the right temperature.
E-mailed American Comfort customer service, no response.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DJNTx Great product!
My wife and I really enjoy keeping the den in the 66-68 degree range, but it is very difficult (and expensive) to keep the rest of the house that cool. Even though the den is an open space and includes the kitchen and breakfast room, this room/portable air conditioner does the trick. It allows us to keep the thermostat at a higher temperature for the two spare bedrooms, dining room and study while keeping the den our comfortable (cold to some people) 66.
Easy installation and easy air filter cleaning.

The product shipped fast and dealing with homedepot was a pleasant experience. However, the product itself is not so great.
First of all, if you are planning on moving this unit from one room to the other, you need to know that it's really big and heavy, so "portable" unit does not really apply here, not to mention the hose is huge, so if you are trying to fit the hose behind the couch or a table, you might want to reconsider.
The unit has styrofoam on the inside, I guess to keep the air cool and the moisture out, mine came with the styrofoam torn on one side, this became a problem really quick, as it was creating condensation in one corner.
My biggest problem with the unit is that it's very loud, it sounds like a 70's refrigerator, having a conversation or watching TV it's impossible with the unit on and you might have to make a decision whether to keep it on to be cold or turn it off to continue your entertainment, it's annoying.
I checked on the AC after a few hours of running it and it was leaking water all over the place.
Overall, I would skip this unit, too many problems, luckily homedepot has been great at dealing with us.
