How many block i need for 154 ft long for 9 ft high

Asked by: Jose
I would not build a 9 foot wall with these blocks. First, you should have an adequate base to support them. Then you will need to be sure they do not fall over with lateral bracing. A wall would be built better with 16x8x8 block Model 30161345. These solid block are for the top course to seal it.

will this work for a metal shed 8x10 as the base floor? if so how many would i need and would you use ready mix concrete to fill the cracks. How would you achor it for the wind of Kansas
Asked by: shed
You can use these for a metal shed. If you prepare the ground like a patio with a compressed sand/portland level base then you will not need to fill cracks. You could always apply a thick coat of mismixed paint (look for buckets with yellow stickers in the paint dept) to the floor. Don't paint the blocks if you want it to absorb spills! You can get twist-in mobile home anchors and run straps across the top of the shed. Twisting the anchors in might require some assistance.

Are these blocks fire restisant?

Asked by: Edgard
Yes. I used 3 of them beneath a 55 Gal drum to boil abouit 50 Gal waters about 20 times a year. It is exposed to full flame for about 10 hrs each time. It's been 2 years for the same 3 blocks and none of them even got chipping or cracking, still in solid shape. I'd like to say it is fire resistant.

What is the actual weight of one block? It says it weights 33lb but I find that hard to believe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Double-check your measurements! Beware - these actually measure 15.5" x 7.5" x 3.5". I purchased these to create a stable, level perimeter for several raised beds I'm building, and I'm glad I over-ordered because these will not cover quite as much area as I originally thought. If they were truly 16" long you would need 75 bricks for a 100' run; however, at 15.5" you will need just a couple more. Other than that these are solid, well-made, and I'm glad I got them. When I get done I hope my pecs and glutes stay well-toned!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Uses for concrete blocks These blocks are very versatile and easy to use. They can be used in a similar manner as pavers or retaining wall blocks but they are larger and are less expensive, thus more cost effective per square foot of use. Also, since they are plain concrete, they can be stained, which is very easy to do and not expensive. I stacked them, up to three high, for garden beds and stained them green. I laid them flat for a small patio and stained them brown. Turned them on edge and buried them slightly to line the boundary of my BBQ area. This maintains the separation of the BBQ area rocks and the adjacent walkway's crushed granite. Those blocks were also stained brown. Used this same configuration and color for washer pits. Yes, washer pits. For less than $40. It's a fun game that only takes one hand to play so your other hand can hold your beverage of choice. Lining the sides of a Bocce Ball court is next.
