This unit is designed to be mounted vertically, through the ceiling, but Broan does make a similar unit designed for wall mounting. I have one in my kitchen.

Above stove mounting

Can this fan be mounted above a range top or stove gas powered and still pass code
Asked by: KJ
No, this fan does not meet that application. There are plastic components in the fan and the heat from a stove stop will melt those components. It will not pass code.

As some of the other reviews have noted, it is on the loud side, but there hasn't been a wisp of steam/fog in the bathroom after a shower since I got it installed. One note, be careful not to lose the little rubber tabs that the backflow flaps rest on! If you secure them with a little dab of glue, you shouldn't have any problems at all. This wouldn't be great for a lived-in area (way too loud), but as a bathroom or shop exhaust fan, it is perfect. Great buy for the price.

No more lingering odors after certain people use the restroom. (Mostly me) I used my existing duct, and with a little mounting bracket modification, it was installed fairly easily. It is a bit louder than the old fan, but it has twice the RPM and much more power. I definitely recommend this unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bathroom Exhaust Fan We bought 2 of these fans because we have pitched ceilings in our house. They were easy to install. These fans are supposed to be quiet but on the contrary, they are extremely noisy. However, they do move the air much better than our old fans.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Price is right. You get what you pay for. I went from a six inch fan to an eight inch fan. The price was right. It is louder than the previous fan, but it is larger too. Overall it meets my expectations, just don't plan on having an audible conversation in the room with it on.

Easy to install. Makes a noise when it is turned off, as if the fan blades are hitting the closure flaps. Will have to have a contractor look at it. Added expense!

It is however a bit noisy but can be ignored when in the other room. It did take an adapter to attach the fan to the vent hose also.
