I would say average. Yes you can install it in the bath to an outside wall. It worked fine in mine. However, if you are looking for a quieter one Broan have newer models.

HI, Joe. Thanks for the questions. This is actually a utility-type fan. And at 180 CFM the sound will be higher. This unit is 6.5 sones. You also asked if this could be installed in a bath - - well, it can be installed in a bathroom, but NOT directly in the tub/shower enclosure. It's not rated for that type of installation. I hope this is helpful, but if you have any further questions just dial Read More

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product The fan was easy to install and is working fine and is easy to use April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, inexpensive fan After reading all the reviews, I decided to buy this fan for the brand new bathroom built for my daughters. The bathroom is 75 square feet and I didn't know if it would work or not. The installation was easy with no problems at all. Material looks good and easy to find the desire depth. After the installation, I can say that it really works. Having a couple of girls, after the long showers they take the vapor inside is quit a lot and the fan exhausted it in under 3 minutes. This fan is not very quiet, but in a large bathroom the noise is not a problem. My wife is happy and my daughters are ever happier. I really recommend this product. February 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for kitchen Moved into a new house without a vent fan in the kitchen. I have non standard cabinet spacing and a window above the cook top. This was a great solution. I purchased the 9.5" washable grease filter also from HD online. I had a friend install it in about 1/2 day. There are no instructions for a stucco install so he cut a round hole same as the inside and installed firring strips with toggle bolts, then attached the vent to it with deck screws.. He had to use wide strips of wood or the fan duct would close too much and seal off the wire opening. He then connected to a nearby switch for an overhead light using a stacked switch on the right side. Eventually I will paint exteriror the same color as the stucco so it will not be quite the eyesore. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that it is noisy. It does move a lot of air which is what I needed it for so I can live with it. Better than a greasy smelly kitchen. February 20, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A little loud. Received it really quick. OK except thought it was a little loud after installing it. If you don't mind, it is good. Better than the celing ones. It's a bit conceiving. Thought the whole thing was white but the back was black so had to spray paint it to look better. February 11, 2016
