Answer:
Thanks for your question. The amount of bags you need will depend on the depth you are trying to achieve. To cover 90 sq. ft. at a depth of 2 inches, you would need approximately 8 bags. To cover 90 sq. ft. to a depth of 3 inches, you would need approximately 12 bags.

For those of you who have purchased this mulch, how long would you estimate the cedar scent lasts? If you bought another kind and are going to give a scent timeline on that, can you provide a brand name? First time buying cedar mulch so I am new to this type.

Thank you!!!

Answer:
I've found that it does depend on the weather, climate, and species of the cedar. The smell will fade away.

2.0 cu. ft. Cedar Mulch is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality has slipped Numerous large pieces 4" to 6" long. No consistancy and no cedar aroma. Not sure what this is made of but it certainly isn't like any cedar I have ever used before and the large pieces are definately not cedar.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Is this REALLY cedar Purchased approximately 60 bags over the past 2 months and am VERY disappointed to say the least. Bags contained large strips of wood, some 5+ inches long. Found some strips that appear to be other than cedar(painted framing wood). There isn't the faintest smell of cedar in any of the bags. I should have read the product reviews before I purchased the product. Needless to say, I will not be buying any more mulch from Home Depot

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cedar Mulch I didn't know anything about mulching so I did some research online and found that cedar mulch has many advantages over other muchles. I like the smell of cedar so I decicded to get four bags and I must say I like the results. A nice aroma, which I assume will fade before too long and it looks nice too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not the cedar chips they had last year this cedar mulch is shredded and not the chips. It does not smell or look like cedar after it dries. I don't believe it is really cedar. Last year they had real cedar chip mulch that lasted beautifully through the winter and looks like new. I would not buy this 2015 brand cedar mulch again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Cover/ Pest deterent We used 20 bags total to cover the gound in and around our greenhouse. It has dramatically reduced the number of bugs on the floor, and helped keep down the mud and muck that goes with perpetual moisture. Great Purchase

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cedar is a cheaper alternative to cypress. It doesn't have much of an odor at all. Doesn't wash away or fall apart as quickly as others. The colored mulch is horrible. Stay away from that stuff. It became hard in our planting box here in DE. We removed all of that nasty stuff and replaced it with our old stand by: cedar. Our crape myrtle, asian jasmine, and needle palms perked back to health quickly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT THE PRODUCT HD SOLD LAST YEAR This product, although the same bag appearance, is not what I have gotten for the past three years. Bought 150 bags yesterday -- barely any aroma which tells me its barely any cedar; bags also contained some sand; much more shredded that previously which means it won't last as long. HD gave me $100 back but I won't be buying any more mulch from HD.
