We built on an additional bathroom far from our home water heater. It took so long for the water to reach the bath I bought and installed one of these 2.5 gal heaters under the house.
We get almost instant hot water.
Now the details. I installed this mini heater on the HOT water side of the lines not the COLD. This way, when the 2.5 gallons are used up, I get water from the main heater.
There are only two of us in the house. Like all water heaters, this one has an anode (keeps the water from attacking the tank first) I have had to keep an eye on the anodes and replace them when the water eats them down.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fred Ariston mini water heater completes garage overhaul
My detached garage upgrade project is now complete thanks to the Ariston water heater. I had a water spigot outside the garage and a few years ago I tied into that line and made a sink in the garage. The sink was great for cleaning fish but the cold water was miserable in the winter. For many years I debated between a tankless electric heater or a small tank heater. I also debated on voltage, maintenance issues and size. For ease of installation and electrical requirements, I chose the Ariston. I'm glad I did. Now I can cleanup with soap and hot water after cleaning fish, processing deer, painting, changing my oil, making jerky and working in garden. I know every part of this product works great because I had high water pressure issues and the relief valve opened exactly at 150 psi. After replacing my reducer valve it works great. The relief valve can easily be tied into a standard sink drain using some garden hose, brass fitting and a drain pipe with a dishwasher drain attachment.
I got a $3 kitty litter pan to sit it in.
I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dlg555 Excellent solution for me!
I have had this heater a couple of weeks now and I am very pleased. My master bathroom is quite a distance from my water heater and it has always taken several minutes to get hot water at the sink. It was not only an inconvenience but a waste of about 2 gallons waiting for hot water.
It is installed under my sink vanity and takes up half my storage under there but it is worth it. Measure carefully. I had 1/4 inch leeway when I measured and it fit perfectly. The measurements provided on the Home Depot website are spot on. It requires a 120v outlet and uses 15 amps. You might have to install an outlet under the sink if there is no convenient way to power it. I drilled through the floor of the vanity and attached the unit to a dedicated 15 amp power strip which plugs into a GFI outlet next to the vanity. The only other thing on my 20 amp circuit are two Sonic toothbrushes, so no problems from that.
The device is simple to operate. Set the thermostat and you are done. The box says easy one person installation. That is probably true for someone who is able to contort themselves under a small bathroom vanity and spend some time on their knees. There are two connections. I ran the hot water connector into the intake of the unit and then ran the output of the unit to the hot water faucet. When I say "I", I mean a plumber. I can do rudimentary plumbing but my knees and back make it difficult for me to work on the floor in small spaces. I set the unit inside a small cat litter box. No matter how good a water heater is, someday it is going to fail and if it leaks I didn't want 2.5 gallons of water leaking out onto the floor.
Now we have instant hot water and wife loves it!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bobby This is the easy, cheapest solution to get instant hot water.
There are many Rube Goldberg-ish designs to get instant hot water in rooms far from the main hot water heater, but they all have drawbacks–either high cost, complexity, or technical issues. This small, 2 1/2 gallon tank fits under a counter, is easily connected and uses house power–no electrician needed. Any average user can do the installation in 20 mins or less. I'm a graduate engineer and have evaluated other attempted solutions to this problem, and this is far away the cheapest, and safest answer. I love it!

This was a install done by a plumbing company and they installed this heater. It is not a bad heater but it's been 6 years now since the work was originally done and I'm just now installing my 3 replacement heater same model each time but always the same problem after 2 or 3 years LEAKING from the tank. I wish they made a drain on the bottom of the tank so when you change the element and rod 2 to 3 times a year it is faster and neater.

Easy to hook up but in my case difficult to get unit into the under sink cabinet. Hand to remove the drawer unit to install power supply from GIS plug above next to sink top. Then reinstall but hand to modify one of the drawers to accommodate the power cord from the unit.

I am not a plumber and this unit took about 15 minutes to install using flexible connectors, and I had hot water about 10 minutes after that. I like the fact you can adjust how hot you want the water easliy on the dial in front of the unit.
