Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent quality, easy to use, and looks great! This hose reel is fantastic. After 25 years, my existing metal hose reel gave up the ghost and I was very disappointed in the types I saw in stores to replace it. I was skeptical about ordering hose reel online sight unseen, but am extremely pleased with my purchase. It is sturdier than my defunct hose reel. It feeds on and off the reels much more smoothly. The handle is also higher so I don't need to bend down so much. I highly recommend it. May 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good overall item, with room for improvement. Would have given 5-stars but the assembly instructions are horrible. You would expect better instructions for the price paid for this hose reel. Home Depot should demand better instructions. The hose reel appears to be sturdy and well made and anything is better than the plastic boxes from Suncast, never again will I purchase a Suncast product. It would be nice to have a hose guide or track when winding the hose. Hopefully the price will drop soon on this hose reel making it more attractive to more buyers. March 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Far better than plastic hose storage The suncast plastic hose storage lasted only 5 months. I decide to pay a little more money for the metal hose truck. It's easy to assemble. The hardest part is getting the wheels in. Takes a little work to get the nuts fastened in. Nicely built. since it's metal, do expect some rust from wear and tear which can be patched up with rust-o-leum. The only thing I miss is like other reviewer says, a hose brake. I miss having a hook or something to hang the spray hose while moving it around. I am pretty satisfy with the purchase and this going to last me more than 5 months as compare to the plastic. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 200 foot hose misleading The reel description says it will hold 200 ft of hose but did not state what diameter hose. I can barely get 150 ft of 5/8" hose on the reel. It is much sturdier than the previous plastic hose reels I owned. This hose reel seems to be made pretty sturdy. If you tighten the wheels so that they don't bow and warble, the wheels won't turn freely so you have to settle on a half way point of not to tight so not to bind the wheels from turning but have the wheels bow a bit. With the wheels bowed, the cart rolls well in one direction but difficult in the opposite direction. June 10, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by nice cart but poor quality control The cart went together easily but the carriage bolts holding the wheels on were the wrong length: about an inch too long, probably from another model. More significantly was the poorly designed sleeve/plastic bushing assembly where the hand crank attaches: as you turn the crank they pull apart and the metal sleeve wiggles back and forth which in my judgement would cause it to break off at the weld, eventually. The carriage bolts could be replaced and likely be okay, but if that one piece at the handle attachment broke off it would render the cart useless and almost impossible for most of us to repair. I returned the cart unused. Too bad... it otherwise seemed quite durable and we were looking forward to long-time reliable usage. December 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A hose reel that will not need to be replaced every couple of years Like most people, I got tired of replacing my plastic hose reels every couple of years because they broke. I went to every local hardware, Home Depot and Lowe's but all they stocked was plastic. Found this reel online and ordered it. Assembly took about 10 minutes and then I loaded up my hose. The metal hose reel is sturdy, easily holds my 100' of 3/4" hose and the finish looks like it will prevent any rust for a long time. The only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars is because there is no strain relief spring on the supply hose where it connects to the reel. This allows the supply hose to kink if you are not careful. Not a big problem as long as you remember to check the supply hose when you reposition the reel. May 28, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hoping it Holds up I am not sure why i have gotten 3 emails in 3 weeks to review a product but I did So all I can say is that I ordered this as a Father's day gift so it has only been in use for a week. He was sick of the plastic hose reels that broke every year and leaked everywhere so we ordered this one. It seems much sturdier and the connectors are all metal not plastic. We are hoping i lasts. We miss our storage compartment for the sprinklers and attachments but will suffer the inconvenience of locating them from in the garage if this reel doesn't leak by next year. June 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Discontinued is Not a surprise Model H_2EZ 2-Wheel Hose Truck (HD online SKU 202494209) - I started to assemble per the instructions but found that no matter whether I tightened the Nuts on the wheel axle bolts properly, or left them a bit loose the wheel bearings were lousy quality: the wheel that was properly tightened wouldn't turn at all and the wheel that was left a bit loose had the inner race sleeve rotating and rubbing against the painted metal tube that's welded to the bottom of the frame (not to mention it being wobbly) and this would have rubbed the paint off and started rust formation at that point. Returned it to the store for a full refund. At the store, I bought a 4-Wheel Hose Cart - Liberty Garden Products Model # 840 (Store SKU # 541632); I will review that separately - but I can say that it had a method of preventing what might be the same lousy quality wheel bearings from become as much of a problem... (see my review of the 4-Wheel Hose Cart for details). June 21, 2014
