This review is really about poor quality control when i went to purchase a huge sum of these. I was immediately disappointed with Home Depot #2781 actually allowing Studs with Black Mold to be placed up for sale and ready for customer contact with there hands. I picked up several pieces of wood before realizing... wait that's mold!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SjmRhoads Best $185 ever spent!
Here is an example of what I did with $185 worth of this lumber.
Yes, I did need to hand pick the pieces so they were strait and had minimal knots in certain places.....but it was WELL worth it.
In the sunlight, the reds in this wood really come out.......amazing
This lumber is Kiln Dried, so no worries about cupping as if I had used Pressure Treated. 2 coats of stain, and 2 coats of Thompson's Water Seal.....done
THANK YOU HOME DEPOT!

Absolutely worth the money paid for the lumber. I purchased exactly what I needed and every piece was without defect. Definitely 5 stars.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by StrEngr Good for interior walls
First off if I was building load bearing walls or walls with lateral load I would go to the lumber yard and get Douglas fir larch or southern yellow pine not "white wood". Since I was building walls for a basement finish my main concern was with straightness. I had around 300 sticks of 8' and 10' delivered. I was surprised at the overall quality being as good as it was. Boards were straight very little crook. Some sticks had a small amount of twist that could be dealt with in areas that mattered. Sheet rock is up and walls look great. Kiln dried important.

I would not use any softwoods for this application. I would prefer teak or maple.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SSPS New Fireplace - where once there was none.
Studs were in good shape to both use to frame out area where fireplace would be covered in stone and heating unit could be installed. The left over lumber, along with a few additional pieces were used to make a custom mantle for the family.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by inskeeper Stud wood is uneven
I ordered 50 2x4x8 studs online to be pulled for later pickup in store. On pickup I rejected and replaced 6 of them for being warped. I have found in recent orders totaling well over 200 studs that the quality is uneven. Some studs are very light and some are very heavy. Some have huge end knots that fall out when nailing and there are knots that weaken the lateral strength of the wood. I really recommend not accepting any stud that looks like it is covered with crystals of any kind (they can appear white, yellow, orange, or clear). On these stud, some kind of deposit is left in the drying process and I find that these boards always split for several inches when nailing. I am sure that this uneven quality reflects more the quality of wood available in forests more than Home Depot handling. If you are ordering by the truckload for large projects, a few bad boards will be expected and they can be set aside to use where they don't matter such as for a scrap brace or short cuts. However, if you are needing every board to be useful, you really need to inspect your selection.
