I'm thinking of running these parallel up the embankment standing up and then joining more at 90 degree angles to make steps. The incline is near 45 degrees. It just leads to our dog yard, currently using a rope toed to a tree to help climb up there. Working on a budget, any recommendations welcome.

Answer:
Hello Josh,
The 2"x8" boards are not rated for ground contact.
4" x4" and larger like 4"x6" or 6"x6" pressure treated lumber or landscape timbers are rated for ground contact.

Answer:
The wood preservation treatment level is for above ground use not ground contact, therefore any contact with the ground will void the warranty against rot and termites. However, many consumers are not concerned with the warranty and use this lumber in a non–structural application on the ground.

2 in. x 8 in. x 12 ft. #2 Prime Pressure-Treated Pine Lumber is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Junk Lumber Good luck actually finding enough boards to build something at home depot. the wood is either cracked, warped or has huge knots. we looked through every board on the wrack just to come up with 4 decent boards. When I got the home I noticed 1 of the 4 boards couldn't be used because the width dimension was so out of tolerance it couldn't even be used. JUNK LUMBER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good and straight I used this around my deck. The boards were straight but it was very green heavy and wet even after a few days in the garage.
