Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by croy50 Remember 20 tons = 40,000 lbs. or 10 cars stacked on each other.
Weight is deceptive. It's like a cooking pan that is 450 degrees. It appears the same as one room temperature.... until you touch it.
As to this jack, I have used it minimally, so have no opinion as to durability. My old jack died. I bought two Husky jacks and they leveled my 2300 foot home. As to one of the reviews on the jack bleeding, the jack could have been bad or other explanations could be: He was lifting more than the jack is capable of lifting. Second: He may have left a load on the jack. They are not intended to hold a load.
On trailer houses, line up the jack to lift on the center of the I-beam. If you lift without centering the beam, you can actually turn (kink) the beam which can cause the beam to fail. Deadly. If lifting heavy loads, put a larger metal block between the head of the jack and the wood. The jack head can actually cut through or damage the wood beam. Never put steal on concrete blocks. Always put wood between block and metal. Wood helps distribute the weight. Kind-of like rock, paper, scissors, metal cuts block.
If jacking on a house, be very careful on lifting walls. They can explode. I have been using jacks for 30 yrs. and had one of these jacks kick out and hit my arm a couple days ago. Two very nice bruises. Watch your soil and realize it can give way under heavy weights. If it's sandy, it's deadly. Always keep your load blocked while you lifting in case something happens. Never put your body or limbs under where your lifting. You may not keep them. If your not sure what your doing, save a life, hire it done.

The only problem with this jack is that it is not a multistage jack. It does not lift high enough to the user has to install shims to achieve the desired height. Other than that, its a pretty solid jack.

Bought this jack to assist in leveling and lift a beam in a house. Ended up just using this jack, it was all that was needed. Clearly outside of its area of use, but effective.

My 5 ton bottle jack could not do the job. The 20 ton jack was a better way to go than renting.
