Answer:
Valve not opening completely. Try unscrewing 1/2 turn. Or wait until seal is seated.

Answer:
If a valve is trickling water, it could be a number of problems. It could be that the seals where it connects to the pipe are not tight enough or it could be that the solenoid is not screwed in tight enough. Or there's a chance it could be a broken or torn diaphragm.

Answer:
Jj, that depends on your Nelson controller. This solenoid will work with most 24v sprinkler system controllers, and is not for use with hose-end timers.

Answer:
This valve should replace the 24v 57039. The key is that it is a 24v system.

24-Volt Valve Solenoid is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from what a headache! I have 8 valves that need new solenoids. Went to Home depot to purchase 4 at a time at and when i went to install , I found they are not making the same thread depth anymore. I had to go to a sprinkler shop and pay twice as much for one to fit properly. Universal is not Universal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy replacement fix for a malfunctioning Sprinkler! Standard solenoid part that was all I needed. My Home Depot store does not stock this item, but rather they sell the entire valve with this included. I ordered this on-line and saved a few bucks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Product - Wrong Brand Odd combo of ratings - but I have a Irritrol Jar Valve and thought the Orbit Jar Valve solenoid would match - it did not - Home Depot took product back with no hassles

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with old Rain Bird valve assembly A station on my sprinkler system had low pressure randomly (worked fine the few weeks before that). The valve assembly for the station was very noisy. After opening up the valve assembly (got a good lesson on how they work), I determined my issue was probably a bad solenoid. The house I am in had an older style Rain Bird assembly valves (black) and the original solenoid was like a metal can that was all rusted out. I disconnected the old solenoid and went to Home Depot and got some help from the staff and we found this Orbit replacement solenoid. I purchased a few since I had 2 rusted out solenoids. They fit perfectly and now the pressure on my station is great! A little odd that Rain Bird didn't have this style replacement but Orbit did. It works perfectly with no leaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sort of an OK Lawn Genie replacemnt Initially I screwed in the solenoid, tight. The sprinklers barely sprayed. After loosening the solenoid about 1/2 turn the flow was fine. Eventually, I unscrewed the solenoid until water leaked from the thread. After tightening 1/4 turn, all was fine. My guess is that once the seal is compressed, the solenoid can be fully tightened.
