How do you vent the water heater through the top of the metal enclosure?

Do you have any drawing that shows the area from the top of the water heater, thru the metal box ? Do you have any photos of this box from the top? Does the vent pipe pass thru the box? And then vein to the outside? Or is there a ?? seal for the top of the box that the vent pipe passes thru?

Thank you, Warren

Answer:
There is a 4” round indent about 5-6 inches from the side of the top cover sheet. This is one possible location for the vent. Please refer to local codes for specific vent placement requirements.

Answer:
Hi Warren,
The water heater must be vented through the top of the metal enclosure. The vent pipe will require the same style flashing as any normal roof vent. The vent pipe and flashing are not included with the enclosure.
I do not have an image of the top; however there is a hole in the roof for a vent pipe.

Rated 2.0 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NO GOOD FOR OUTSIDE DON'T BUY IT, UNLESS YOU HAVE FLOOD INSURANCE, IT RUINED MY NEW WATER HEATER, IT LEAKS ALL OVER WHEN IT RAINS. January 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easily bent or warped but good value. The enclosure is what I expected - not the most sturdy thing in the world but a good value. December 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Build Your Own Definitely not worth the money...do not buy. Poor instructions and flimsy construction. You need to screw pieces together (not included) because their tab system does not hold the unit together. I finished putting the unit together and when I installed the door their was a 1/2 inch gap on each side so I had to use my snips to trim the tabs to make it fit properly. If I had to do this again I would build my own enclosure for the cost. December 27, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by STAY AWAY FROM THIS!!!! I bought this product pretty much because it was the only option I had. It is very difficult to find an outdoor gas water heater enclosure anymore. With that being said, stay away from this thing. This "galvanized steel" is so thin it's like working with a soda can. It has no support whatsoever and it is very flimsy. You would be better served to pay a little more and build your own enclosure. April 13, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Product was what we expected. This product was exactly what I expected. I hoped that it would have some insulation inside but it was not mentioned in its description and I did not really expect it. The top has a hole for a gas water heater vent and we used it for an electric heater. We had to put a cap on top but it works well for our purpose...which was to move the water heater outside and reclaim the space inside. July 23, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I AGREE! This enclosure is such a piece of junk! After installing it the wind would knock the door off! I just had enough of it and built my own out of siding and cost me about the same. The enclosure I built even passed inspection from the city! Remember if you build your own to vent it! May 19, 2011
