Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Milo Incomplete product, Not well thought out
The plenum kits I purchased had no bottom plate. Very few air handlers are exactly 24" x 24". No allowances have been made for this. Also, I planned to use these units as secondary downstream splitters, since you had no full sheets of board to make custom units . Supprize! One side missing and no mention of that on line or in the store. Had to make do with scraps.

I opted to tackle the job of replacing my entire duct system myself when the estimate to have pro's do it was in excess of $3000 - and moving up to $4800 after April 1st because of the heat in FL. The junction box that served the far side of my house had obviously been used as a seat by someone and was completely crushed and had a gash in the top, so I had to construct a new junction box, and this was just what I needed. The instructions on the packaging were clear and easy, and the materials were of good quality, and cut easily with a box cutter and a duct knife. To make a complete box with a top and a bottom, you will need 2 kits, as the kit only comes with one panel for top or bottom.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by injunear Doesn't fold up to make a box shape
I bought one of these plenum's only to have to return to store where after telling my story ( it could not be assembled to a box shape) to a skeptical store clerk I had to stand by while not one, but three of these guys set about to prove me wrong. None could assemble to make a box shape.
Pulled another package from the shelf. Same thing. Apparently they were packaged with the wrong sides. The sides are supposed to be different, not the same as far as we could tell......

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by John Plenum is NOT fully enclosed
Bought five for distribution boxes only to discover I had to enclose these. The kit is just cut from regular board and needs modification to be set up.

I could put it together and cut out the ducting holes, I am a woman with no HVAC training and I could complete the job and it looks good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BlackDimension Great product, only comes with 5 sides...
This duct board plenum kit worked perfectly for my application. I purchased 3, because I had to get the extra sides to build 2 complete boxes, which is my biggest complaint. the only way I knew it was not a complete box was because another reviewer mentioned the same thing.
I used 1 box as a supply sub-plenum, 25 ft away from the main furnace supply plenum. 14" flex run in, (3) - 8" flexes out, split to (6) 6" register connections.
I used the other box as a return sub-plenum, 35 ft away from the main furnace return plenum. 14" flex run to the box, branching to (4) 8" flexes to return runs in stud cavities.
The boxes were easy to assemble once I figured out how to do it, although it takes a while to build them. Comes in 3 "pieces", which make up 5 sides. 2 of the pieces are ready to fold into a half square, with 2 corner seems to tape completing the square. The 3rd piece is an end, with all 4 edges to tape. Fabricating a 6th side from the 3rd plenum kit was easy, just took a side with 3 "beveled" edges, and added a 4th bevel edge using a utility knife.
Cutting material is very easy and clean. Used a utility knife with a sharp blade, cuts through like butter. In order to cut completely through the thick material, I used a sharp lock blade knife to finish the cuts. Minimal mess, easy to cut clean holes, no "sawing" required. I would choose to work with this material over sheet metal any day.
One more thing. Material is itchy hard fiberglass. Use gloves, try not to get it on your skin.

building and installing the plenum and ductwork in a 100 year old house couldn't have been easier. The plenum is in pieces that fit perfectly together. needed to adjust the size to fit between floor joists and it cut smooth as silk with a utility knife. much sturdier than I expected, a pleasant surprise! seal it well with foil tape (I used three layers because I had extra tape). cuts easily with a hole saw or jig saw - and I used both. it might have been nice to have assembly instructions but I had it figured out in two shakes - and it made perfect sense once I understood the way it was fasioned to fit. very light weight and easy to position.
