Do they hold water? Turtle habit

Asked by: rick
Sure, they held whiskey. Just make sure that the barrel one eventually buys has tight staves!

I don't see why you can't do that .... I order many items on line and have them shipped free of chafe to my local HD.

Ever going to be in stock?

I bought 2 of these last year at my local home depot. Now that it's Spring again and I'm looking to plant, I'd like a few more to match. The online search isn't very useful. I've read the answer to the question about using it so maybe it is very useful and is telling me they aren't in stock anywhere, but that's not clear. The product comes from a company in Eugene, OR, Real Wood Products but they don't sell direct to end users. My question is, will Home Depot be selling more?
Asked by: CuriousPDX
This is an on-going question for me too. I have found that the restocking of any product is totally unpredictable. It is now January and my local Home Depot garden shop just received a shipment of 20 half-barrels.

I learned a long time ago to prevent rotting by sealing the bottom and up four inches on the staves with roofing cement. I normally drill four/five 1" holes for drainage. Employees don't follow the manufactures' directions to keep barrels moist. Hence, many of the barrels fall apart as the staves dry, shrink and the rings fall off. These can be fun to reassemble if you can get them for a cheap, cheap price. Most of the time pressure washing will NOT clean up the usually stained wood. Make a caddy to move it about with 4" casters.

Sanded, stained and finished, added screws in outer ring, tilted and added short legs. Using as a firewood rack in our log home.
