Answer:
no screen but cover comes off easy and just wipe the blades. You should not need to do this very often.
The fan is strong and pulls smoke out the door on the outside quickly

Answer:
To clean this exhaust fan you have to remove the grille. The fan does not come with an aluminum filter, however, one can be purchased. Review part number S99010042 on homedepot.com. If you have questions, dial 888-336-3948 and talk with our Customer Service Department. Thank you.

Answer:
The hole is 8-1/4" diameter for Model 507. Locate the studs and cut the hole between them - do not cut through a stud.

Thank you for your questions about the Broan model 507. This is what we call an 8" fan because the diameter of the inside sleeve is 8-3/8". The housing adjusts to fit walls from 4-1/2" to 9-1/2" thick. It is pull-chain operated, and the grille dimensions are 11-1/2" x 11-1/2". To get a better view or breakout of this model, I would suggest that you go to the Broan web site (www.broan.com). In the upper Read More

250 CFM Wall Chain-Operated Exhaust Fan is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 16.

Wall Chain-Operated Exhaust Fan---that is what I bought, except that it didn't come with the chain or the actuator plate that actually turns it off and on! This may be a one-off slip-up, but it made for a very expensive installation. I will say that the help-line was, well, helpful and sent the correct parts quickly and on time. As to the product: they made an engineering change from older models, apparently, involving the electrical housing facing straight down instead of catercorner , making it necessary to remove the bottom 2x4 crosspiece--not easy in such a small area. The fan blade hit on the housing and needed to be moved out of the slot a quarter to half inch. This product is much lighter built than the one it replaced and I doubt it will last nearly as long.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is poorly designed Bought this for my 81 year old mother; she used it 3 times and the pull chain broke. Had to flip the breaker to stop the fan from operating and tape something over the opening as we could no longer close the flap. Removed and inspected fan - the ball chain is secured by a flimsy piece of metal that snapped in half - see no way to repair this so will have to modify - seriously? This is on a second floor so have to borrow a ladder to fix a fan we have owned for less than 45 days and used thrice - so not worth it. Very, very disappointed at this shoddy design and workmanship.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good fan but 1 warning for you Be careful with the door clamp attached to the door. The chain which attaches to door clamp is difficult to attach. DON'T BEND IT UP, like I did because it will break and it attached tightly to my finger and drew blood. If it breaks you will have to modify or get a replacement door. It's a good fan and I measured the decibels at 79 when it runs but if you want to remove air, you can't get away from the noise. Used in room 15x12....works great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good fan with one real design flaw. Easy to install right through the wall behind the stove. It is pretty noisy, but now we can cook pasta without steaming up the kitchen windows. Not something you would leave running any longer than necessary. As many other reviewers mentioned, the clip attaching the chain to the door broke after two dozen uses - I hope they honor their one-year warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 250 cfm wall chain-orerated fan the outside door could open wider than it does. A little more detailed instruction would be nice as well as directions to sliding pull chain through slot. But over all happy with product and installation in general.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This looked like the product I needed. I was not able to install this fan as it arrived missing the inside grill. I have repacked it and am waiting for UPS to send it back. They did include a mailing label to make this easy. I will be ordering another one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from moves a lot of air for the money I had a code requirement of 225 cfm and this is the least expensive by far. Had to reinforce the chain attatchment to the door otherwise it seem sturdy enough and easy to install
