does 250W heat light require a special housing unit?

Does 250W heat light require a special housing unit? Does 125W heat light require a special housing unit?
Asked by: Anonymous
You cannot use 250 watt bulbs in a standard can light fixture, they must be specifically rated for this wattage. Some light fixtures may be rated for 125 watt bulbs but check manufacturer's rating before purchasing as too much heat may melt plastic and present a fire hazard.

This unit is not IC rated. Do not install insulation within 3-4" inches of top or sides of housing. Also, be sure to know your local codes. Thank you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not put out heat Do not buy this product! It was a complete waste of money. We left it on in our secondary bathroom for over an hour and the temperature only changed 1 degree.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase! I am really pleased with this item. It is perfect for my 2nd floor small bathroom with a walk-in shower. Definitely cost effective compaired to installing a baseboard or wall heater. Highly recommend this item.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product works but.... This product works but not in the manner that I had expected. I expected this product to heat the air in the bathroom but it does not. I called customer service and they indicated that this is a radiant heater and therefore it heats surfaces. If you are looking to heat the air in your bathroom this is not the product for you. This company sells other products that heat the air so do your homework and make sure that you purchase the product the suits your needs. I have a very small bathroom with an 8' ceiling. I can feel some heat from this product but not what I expected. If you have ceilings that are greater that 8' high then don't buy this product as you will feel nothing. I give this product 3 stars because it "works" but had I done my homework I would have purchased something else. Since installation I have had insulation installed above the bathroom and it is no longer accessible for easy replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Infrared ceiling heater fixture Just what I needed in my new walk in ceramic tile shower. Now even the floor is warm ! You will need an electrician to install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If I only knew... Pros: Easy enough install. Cons: Not enough heat, even for a small area. Cheap looking plastic cover. I do NOT recommend this product! Save your money. I'm gonna save mine and redo this...eventually. I purchased this lamp heater after 70's style heater went out. My bathroom is 6'x5' and assumed this would be enough to heat the area. Boy was I wrong! Installation was easy enough for my first time home owner experience. Using a 250w red bulb...it sure is bright in this little space but that is about it. Where is my heat? The provided fixture cover looks like cheap plastic. It is a good thing the bulb doesn't get hot because the pastic cover doesn't look like it could handle it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from INFRARED CEILING HEATER This heater was not really designed for retro-fit installation. I had to dis-assemble the conduit box in order to install the the body into a reasonably sized hole cut into an existing ceiling. Reassembly of the conduit box to the heater, in place, was a little fiddly to say the least.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from found it two weeks later at half the price it was not easy to install as a replacement would be ok for new home construction
