Customer Questions & Answers

Will a 1.5" diameter umbrella stand fit in this base?

Will a 1.5" diameter umbrella pole fit in this base?
Asked by: Chris
Yes a 1.5" diameter umbrella pole will fit nicely in this base. I know because I just installed one. There are two plastic fittings, and you will have to remove the smaller one (easy ... just 2 pieces of plastic, one inside the other). The nice thing about the stand is that you don't have to add any sand.

Is this a stand alone base or does it have to be combined with a table?

Not recommended as a stand alone base, especially in windy states like CA.

26 lbs. Patio Umbrella Base in Black is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 136.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from EASY AND SUFFICIENT I am amused that this product is billed as "assembly required." All you have to do is screw the threaded bolt on the tube into the threaded hole in the base. You can do it by hand. It takes all of five seconds. At 26 pounds it should be heavy enough for most situations. It handles different sizes of umbrellas. Just use the plastic insert that gives the snuggest fit with the umbrella pole. I had no trouble having the umbrella stand at a 90-degree angle. Also, it fit perfectly underneath the umbrella guides under the table. At 30 dollars you cannot go wrong. You could go with a 60-pound base and pay around 100 dollars, but why would you want to do that? All you want is to have your umbrella not blow over in a strong wind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PERFECT PATIO UMBRELLA BASE! I bought this base to replace a super cheap water filled base that just wasn't doing the job. Though this base isn"t the fanciest looking base it does it's job with ease. I would highly reccomend this base to anyone looking for an umbrella base to use with their patio table. And for anyone reading these reveiws you must ignore the negative ones. The description for this base clearly states: (Base must be used under table with umbrella hole; Not for use with freestanding umbrellas) Most negative reviews are related to customers trying to use this as a free standing base, which it is not intended for

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Southern CA We bought 5 of these 2 years ago for a graduation party (to anchor 118" tilt umbrellas from a "swedish retailer"). We use 2 freestanding umbrellas for the dining table instead of one central umbrella for better shading. The other 3 shade lounging areas. These bases are still going strong. They are: Light weight enough to easily move around the patio as the sun moves. Heavy enough to use the tilt feature on the umbrella and it will stay upright. Fade resistant, so far they look like new. I agree with those who say a breeze will knock them over, but for SoCal these are perfect weight for the vast majority of the days you'd want to sit outside. This was a great purchase at a great price for our purposes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from its an umbrella stand.... I purchased this to hold an umbrella in my patio table and thats what it does. You put the umbrella in it tighten down the set screw and done. Now granted nobody has come up to me and said "hey thats a nice umbrella stand" but nobody has said "hey your umbrella just flew away in the west Texas wind" either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy Umbrella Base This works great with my Hampton Bay Fall River patio set and the matching 9'x6.5' umbrella. The table is pretty sturdy to start with, so I didn't need a super heavy stand. I haven't had any issues with the umbrella or table blowing over, and I live in a very windy area. When I'm not outside using the set, I keep the umbrella folded. It's been through some pretty harsh storms, some that have even been severe enough to blow over the substantially heavy metal patio furniture, but so far the umbrella and table have been rock solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FULFILLED ALL EXPECTIONS VERY VERSITILE. WEIGHT WAS LEADING FACTOR. WITHSTANDS WINDS ON WINDY DAYS ALREADY TO 50MPH GUSTS WITH UMBRELLA CLOSED. I DON'T LIKE LAYING UMBRELLA DOWN ON GROUND. I CHECKED OUT HALF A DOZEN AND HOME DEPOT'S WAS HEAVIEST.INSERTS TO ADJUST TO SIZE OF UMBRELLA POLE WAS VERY NICE AND IT WAS VERY EASY TO ASSEMBLE. PRICE WAS RIGHT TOO.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for CA Winds Used with a table for support, this will work. Free Standing? Won't work. Purchased (2) in 2014 and had my umbrella's fall over repeatedly and either scrape my stucco and/or break the extended umbrella arms. Also, the screw used to secure the umbrella into place doesn't hold. Even w/ plastic inserts, the umbrella was always tilted. You get what you pay for. Sold both at a garage sale for $10.
