Questions & Answers

How do you get the machine in the pan without breaking the sides?

Asked by: Lll
We put a small pallet right next to the pan and put our water heater on the pallet. Then slid the water heater off of the pallet down into the pan. This was how we avoided breaking the lip of the pan. If you don't have a pallet, anything with a raised surface would work as long as it is as high as the lip of the pan.

So now you have your machine in the pan where would you drain the water to? Into sewer line or route it to sub pump?
Asked by: Harley
You will not want to tie it into the sewer, or else you will get sewer gas come up thru the drain and it will smell. You can pipe in a 1" pvc p-trap inline, but that will dry out since you will not be getting water into this drain often enough. Pipe it outside, or if you are in a basement pipe it over near the floor drain or a sump pump

Customer Reviews

28 in. x 30 in. Plastic Washing Machine Pan with 1 in. Furnished Drain Adapter is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do Good value. To avoid the problems the negative reviews mention make sure you look up a video or description of how to lift your washing machine over the edge of the pan so you don't break the pan. If you have two strong people handy you can just lift the machine up and over the lip of the pan and carefully drop it in. If you don't have any help one person can do it. I was able to do it myself using a 4x4 on the outside of the pan and moving the washing machine up and over into the pan a little bit at a time. A small rug or welcome mat on the inside the pan while tipping the machine in will also help prevent any crack in the pan when the machine first tips down into the pan. The rug can be pulled out from under the machine once it's completely in the pan.

We have a puppy and he uses a pad under layers of plastic. Many times accidents!! We just put in a new carpet. We use this pan with the pad in it and -NO MORE ACCIDENTS!! This is one you probably weren't expecting. I have a new recommendation for this pan!! Don't have a camera to send a photo. Wish I did. JoAnn Schroeder

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Do-It-Yourself Installation tip... The first drip pan we installed ourselves, we cracked the edges all up, trying to get the silly washing machine into it. We got a little smarter second time around. Tilt washing machine back and scoot back edge of pan under the machine about halfway. Use 2 2x4's- one on outside edge of pan (under the washing machine), and one on inside edge of pan at same edge (protects the edge of the pan and creates a small "lever"), and gently tilt machine up and over into the pan and slide it forward. Once the machine is inside the pan, you can adjust it around to square it up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive solution This item is over priced for what you are getting for nearly $30. It is made of very light material which is rather brutal. I bought two. In fact before they were installed, the plumber stepped on the edge of one of the land and it split, making it useless. There has got to be a more durable product out there.

I am using it as a drip pan under my new freezer which was put on top of a carpeted floor.. It fits. It works only after we raised the freezer to be able to get door open. Have only had it for a week or two. So far it is doing its job. Will know more when time goes on.

I purchased the tray because my washer has a mysterious, very minor leak, so I wanted the water to be caught be the tray and evaporate rather than damage the floor. It serves that purpose well. I am not using the drain attachment option in my situation.
