Can this be used as panels for fencing? We purchased a home that has a wood fence, the problem is that the previous owners used untreated 2 by 4 for the panels. The wood poles are in great shape....Thanks.

Does this product have a load rating? Can it be used as the 'roof' in a shade structure with 30psf roof snow load?

Asked by: Curious
Hi Curious. Thank you for your question. There are 2 types of lattice commonly sold. The thinner variety is: Common: 1/4 in. x 48 in. x 8 ft.; Actual: .25 in. x 48 in. x 96 in.) This type of lattice is not meant to be used as a roofing material unless there is support underneath each piece of lattice. For this type of project, you would need to build a support structure of 2x2’s o4 2x4’s rafters about 12 inches apart to provide support for the 4 ft. wide lattice. There is also a thicker variety at .44 of an inch. This too will need some support to prevent sagging over time. This product should have a 2 foot space in between rafters and still provide enough strength. However, to increase its snow load ability, 1 foot spacing between rafters would be best. To increase the load capability for a shade structure, the more inclination the roof has, the more load it can carry. Using a gazebo design will give you more strength and support. Be sure to use a penetrating oil or slightly tinted stain prior to installation to give your new structure long lasting beauty. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Rick_HD_OC

The holes between the cedar boards, what is the spacing.

Asked by: Butch

Do you sell the materials (e.g. poles, framing) for installing this into the ground?

3/4 in. x 48 in. x 8 ft. Cedar Architectural Lattice is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product for professionals, or those seeking professional results. The only wood lattice I will use. Vinyl is okay for some applications, but if you want real wood architectural lattice is the only way to go. Ignore the flimsy wood lattice. I have had that fall apart while I was cutting it. This is double the thickness and holds together well. It has its own internal structural strength (up to a point) and when properly installed can work as a fence or wall element. [The thin stuff is only decorative.] I like to use this to top my cedar fences, giving them extra height above the fence boards - as skirting around a deck - or as a deck or gazebo 'wall.' This can even serve as the entire fence, not just as a topping element. Try that with the thin stuff and it will fail in a short time under standard use conditions. This also takes the stain exactly like the cedar fence boards, since it is real cedar, not vinyl. Do NOT be penny wise and dollar foolish. This is a top quality product and far preferable to the thin cedar lattice. I also prefer it to vinyl. Highly recommended based on decades of professional use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product Cedar lattice is excellent for creating interest and covering less attactive areas of my property. I recommend it to friends for climbing plant support or to improve the look of under the porch areas. I'm a senior lady and find lattice easy to work with for many projects. Home Depot did not ship this product. I needed to draft a friend to help me pick it up because of my vehicle restrictions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality This lattice is made of cedar. The boards are much thicker and stronger than the cheapo lattices and far prettier than plastic.
