If I take off this coiled connector, would it cause water to leak even though I have shut the water valve?

Water was leaking from this coiled connector from the toilet. I shut the water off and there was no leak. If I remove the part connected to the bowl, will it cause water to drip or pour out of the toilet, or would there be no drip or leaking at all. The possibility of its leaking will cause the water to seep and stain the ceiling below in the 1st floor bathroom. This is my first time wanting to do something myself, and if this connector doesn't cause leaking I will do it myself... otherwise I will call a plumber in regards... Thanks in advance

Thank you for the question. Once you have shut off the water at the valve under the toilet there's still water in the connector and toilet. Do not disconnect the water line until you have drained the toilet. To do so, (with the valve shut off) flush the toilet then use a sponge to soak up any remaining water in the toilet tank. Place a bucket under the shut-off valve and water connector connections to catch any remaining water in the water line. Once you have completed those steps you can replace the water connector. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to replace the connector and leak test the connection. We hope this helps. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It worked fine We bought the comfort height toilet and the 12 inch long connector was too short in our house due to the toilet being 2" higher than the original. Had to go back to get the 16 inch length. Recommend getting the longer length going in. August 2, 2016
