If I take off this coiled connector, would it cause water to leak even though I have shut the water valve?

Water was leaking from this coiled connector from the toilet. I shut the water off and there was no leak. If I remove the part connected to the bowl, will it cause water to drip or pour out of the toilet, or would there be no drip or leaking at all. The possibility of its leaking will cause the water to seep and stain the ceiling below in the 1st floor bathroom. This is my first time wanting to do something myself, and if this connector doesn't cause leaking I will do it myself... otherwise I will call a plumber in regards... Thanks in advance

You will still have water in the tube - not much, depending on the length.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware of these with the plastic connector at the toilet After having one of these have its cheap plastic connector break and fllod my house with over 200 gallons of water, I was at work when this happened, I would highly recommend replacing these immediately. When you think about it - how absurd to use steel braided hose and then have a PLASTIC connector on the end of it. Luckily there are ones available with a steel connector - just not at HOME DEPOT. Wish I had used my head before installing these. They will all be replaced before they have a chance at an encore performance. Let this be a warning - this is a seriously flawed design. Sure most of them will work fine but for an extra few dollars you can do better and have less to fear. Now I see the plastic fill valve failing sometime in the future ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It worked fine We bought the comfort height toilet and the 12 inch long connector was too short in our house due to the toilet being 2" higher than the original. Had to go back to get the 16 inch length. Recommend getting the longer length going in.
