I am planning to use this fed from a rain barrel. The pressure will obviously be much lower then a traditional 40-60 psi incoming water supply. Will the weak pressure still be enough to permeate the hose?

Answer:
It depends on the conditions. The best way is try some low pressure and find our your required soaker condition. Never try 40-60 psi for a long time it may rapture. As the price is low do not trust what is claimed.

I purchased two of these today. I came home and hooked them up at two locations and turned on the water. It began to bubble out at the start of the hose. I came back 45 minutes later and only about one half of the hose had water bubbling out if it the last halves were dry. I took off the end cap and no water was flowing out of the end of either hose. I'm on level ground. Is this the way they work only half of the hose flows water? What did I do wrong? All your reviews suggest that these are great products I'm a little baffled. Is there a secret to getting even water flow out the entire length of the hose or not?

Customer Reviews

Rated 1.4 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It exceeds the factory's specification The two units of hose I bought (25' and 50') to deep water our big tree have no leaks and appear to produce a consistent amount of dripping all along their lengths. The packaging says the hoses should emit one gallon of water per hour per foot. The section I measured during one use put out almost two and a half gallons in one hour. So, the tree had gotten at least twice as much water as I had planned, which probably did no harm and may even have been a good thing. Now I know. The hoses get four stars for quality from me instead of five because the manufacturer's claim was inaccurate; but five stars are deserved for value because they do essentially what I need and were inexpensive to purchase. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Soaks the first foot pretty well. Beyond that not so much. I connected my hose and most of the water leaked out in the first 1 foot. Maybe it drips a bit for another 10 feet. Taking the other soaker lines back. September 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Useless Purchased 3 of these, thinking the brand would ensure good performance. They will be returned. After 3 hours of a wide open faucet, no benefit that I could see, as in a bit of moisture on the hose only, nothing on the ground. Changed out to yet another like it, exact same results. VERY disheartening and disappointing product. Can not recommend. July 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Look for an actual hose manufacturer I tried two of these, exchanging the first failed product. Same result: water shoots out the first foot of hose, little or no water out the rest of the hose. HD should not carry this product. (LOVE MiracleGro fertilizer.) July 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works for me I'm not sure why all the bad reviews. I have 850 feet in my vegetable garden and looking to add another 450'. Only one 50' section had 2 spots that sprayed a 2' stream but electrical tape took care of that, therefore 4 stars. It sure saves on water. July 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy!!! Bought four hoses and three were bad. All leaked from the connection point. Two did not sweat. One had a burst in it from the very first try. The fourth who knows??? By then I decided to not even bother trying. TOTAL GARBAGE!!! July 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Design I hoped that I was getting a hose that had a 6 to 8 foot wide pattern that I could water a strip of grass and flower bed along the side of the house. This is nothing like the hose that I had, a flat green hose that had good coverage and great flow. I have my pump set to 45 PSI for the summer watering season and have this hose connected to a 3/4 inch x 50 foot hose off a 1 1/4" main line. I am only getting spray to 3 foot high, by 3 foot wide coverage. The inlet fitting on the new hose is 1/2 inch so that seems adequate. The hoses label says it can be used for either sprinkler, spray into the air or soaker with the spray side facing the ground. I would not use the soaker side as this will dig holes in soft ground. Overall it does water but its slow at best. I should have read the other reviews since they are all in agreement this is a very poor product. July 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by soaker hose burst I have purchase several of these Gilmour soaker hoses and all of them have been defective. Past soaker hoses I have purchased came with a small pressure regulator disk, but these hoses did not have one. Instead, in very tiny print on the back of the label, they said the hoses are rated to 60 psi. The first hose I tried promptly burst when I turned the water on. On inspection I found a 3-inch gash at the far end of the hose, which I assumed had been there all along. The second hose I tried started bulging to about twice its diameter at the far end. I turned the water off and made my own pressure regulator disk, but when the hole in the disk was small the water only seeped out of the two ends of the soaker hose -- not out of the middle. When the hole was larger the far end of the hose bulged. I was never able to get the hose to where water seeped out throughout its length. (This, by the way, was on flat ground.) As I gradually increased the water pressure -- waiting 5 - 10 minutes between increases -- the hose eventually burst. The water never seeped out of the full length of the hose. I contacted Gilmour customer support 3 weeks ago to find out what the problem was but have not heard back from them. I would not recommend buying this product. July 14, 2015
