Questions & Answers

does this require a washer?

does this require a washer?
Asked by: Jeffrey
Hi Jeffrey - The faucet end of the riser does not require a washer. The shape of the faucet washer conforms to the shank of faucet when the nut is tightened. The other end of the riser that connects to a fitting or stop requires the use of a compression ring and nut to create the seal. Please contact our Customer Support Team at 877-272-7755 with any other questions.

The supply line is pretty and I am sure it functions correctly with the right faucet nuts - but it still deserves a 1 star review. These lines have the bar-code sticker stuck on them directly and they're the kind of low-quality sticker that will leave all the sticky stuff on the supply line rather than come off easily. It took me lots of scrubbing using Goof-Off to get the sticker residue off the line and make that part as shiny as the rest of the line. Nothing annoys me more than a half-decent product that ruins itself with a sticky that wastes time and effort to remove. The whole reason you would buy this line rather than an easier-to-install supply line is because this one will look much prettier when finished. The other reason I'm giving it a low review is partly Home Depot's fault. There is no reason they should stock these lines without a brass 1/2 inch faucet supply nut available. You can order one - but they do not stock them in the stores. The guy in plumbing gave me two plastic faucet nuts (meant to use with plastic supply lines) and I ended up wasting a bunch of time trying to make it seal. They need to stock the 1/2 in Brass Faucet-Shank nuts. It's embarrassing how much time I wasted trying to make these work with plastic nuts.

The leak at the faucet end can sometimes be mitigated by wrapping the acorn with Teflon tape prior to the first installation attempt. The compression ferrule at the valve end will not seal entirely around the tube and teardrops form at the top of the nuts. Pay a bit more for a higher quality tube that can be installed properly the first time with no problems or "tricks" to stop leaks.
