Product Overview

Plastic-Coated Copper Tube is manufactured for use when copper tube is to be buried or used in a potentially aggressive environment. Some building and insulation materials may contain chemicals that are potentially corrosive to plain copper tube, requiring it to be protected to ensure its longevity in service. Our plastic-coated copper tube eliminates the need for on-site tape wrapping or sleeving, creating a savings on labor and ensuring a professional-looking installation.

  • Orange polyethylene-coated copper tube
  • For fuel and oil applications
  • Manufactured to meet the requirements of NFPA 31
  • Constructed of high grade copper

You can cut the jacket with a razor knife. First go around and then make a slit lengthwise and you can peel it off. The Jacket is there to help identify it as an oil line and to keep it from touching cement. Cement and other building materials will react with copper over time. So this is another level of protection. Also if the copper does fail the jacket forms a leak path where the oil will wick to the end where it can be seen, rather than leaking at place along the run that can;t be seen. Read Less
