This swing is very sturdy and nice looking. I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews for this swing as I think it is comfortable and I don't have the same issues with wind catching the awning. If I know it's going to rain, I simply lean the awning a bit so that the rain runs off and doesn't pool. I would also recommend spraying a water-proofing coating on the seat and awning to keep water from penetrating the material.
This is sturdy and swings smoothly without the annoying noises other less quality swings tend to have.
I do think, however, that it's difficult and cumbersome to transform the seat to a futon. Because the seat is wider, you really need 2 people to perform this task. It also does not fold down flat. It does have a slight "V" shape when it's folded down.
As far as the awning is concerned, the manufacturer would benefit its customers by putting a stability bar through the material from side to side to keep it from drooping if it does have the water pooling issue others have complained about.
I also think the bottom leg caps should have holes drilled into them so the swing can be screwed into a deck or other surface to keep it from "crawling" when you're using the swinging benefit. If you don't have room to store this swing inside during winter months, I would suggest getting a canvas waterproof cover to protect it from the elements.

We bought this swing a week ago. What a bad choice! It is extremely poor quality. The seat cushion can not be removed to put indoors, nor does it have any support as it is just a sling between two bars. The fabric is so terrible that it cannot be wiped off because of the roughness that catches everything. Overall terrible design. I'm surprised home depot would carry something this bad, but i guess thats why they did not have one on display.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by nurse76 beautiful swing for the 1st month
This was a beautiful swing, but for the cost I was regretting the purchase a month later. I agree with other consumers that the material is poor for outdoors and I even tried a low powered pressure washer to get the dirt off, no luck. Not very comfortable either, the seat sags since its only held by mesh and later I wished it had sat a bit higher off the ground.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BlueDobby Well Built But Canopy Is Flawed
The Futon Swing was easy to assemble and the swing itself seems to be of good quality. Unfortunately the design of the canopy is flawed in 2 ways: 1) the canopy side support stoppers aren't designed with enough bite (or deep enough teeth) to allow the canopy to be secured properly without over tightening them; 2) without a center support of any kind for the canopy it holds rain water and has to be dumped after each rain fall.

Got this as a gift, beautiful and very strong, but within a year and a half the seat cushion is falling apart, looks terrible, of course the warranty is only one year. Also the wind catches under the awning and flips it very easily! Terrible product, don't buy!

After two years of use:
The canopy is the only real problem with this chair. Even a slight wind will blow it around. A good gust will flip the chair completely. The canopy can tear fairly easily and once it does wind will cause the tears to expand. I tried to call the manufacturer to get replacement canopy. They wanted to charge $65.00 for replacement, which is expensive but tolerable. However, they didn't take credit cards and wanted me to send a check to some mystery company in California, which is really horrible. Joe schmoe lawn service guy can accept credit cards with his iPhone but these guys cannot?
Anyways other than the canopy the chair has been great. Cleans easy with a light spray from the power washer.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Cushion material is cheap; company won't replace
We purchased this swing and canopy two summers ago. After the end of last season (which was the second summer we had it), as I was putting it away, I notice that the material was simply disintegrating. It ripped and crumbled as though it had been sprayed with acid (it had been sprayed with water to clean it, and that's all). When I contacted the company for a replacement, I was told the replacement costs $100. I inquired whether the replacement was the same material, and I was told it was. I explained that the material is not durable enough to last two summers (in the Chicago area, so it's not a long season), and she said they would not make any adjustment since it was out of warranty. I am disappointed with the lack of quality, and the lack of company support for their product. I elected to not buy the replacement. At $100, I would rather apply that toward a new piece of furniture from a better manufacturer that may last far longer.

I purchased this last year... the fabric on the seat ripped in several places before the summer was over. It can't withstand sun exposure.
