Fascia-mounted post?

I am installing the railing into a roof deck and don't want to drill into the deck to mount the base posts. Do you offer side/fascia-mounted posts?

I need a center post to hook 2 - 6 ft rails together.

They have them in black at the Home Depot Store; but I was told to order the white online; except no one can find the white center post to place between 2 of the 6 foot rail kits.
Asked by: David
Hi David, There are three possible solutions: 1. Purchase the 3" EZ Post (EZPRW) online at The 3" EZ Post (EZPRW) allows you to connect the 6' rails to opposing sides of post. The post then protrudes 2" above the top rail (post and stile configuration - see photo "solution 1"). 2. Purchase the 1 3/4" EZ Under-Rail Post at your local Home Depot Store Pro Desk (Associate will have to contact us - 800.248.1520): Use an 1 3/4" sq. under-rail post (not avail. online) and butt the two top 6' rails together (and then caulk). This is a less desirable solution because the top rails shift over time and the joint may become uneven. See photo "solution 2." 3. Purchase the 1 3/4" EZ Under-Rail Post and 24 ft. Top Rail at the Home Depot Pro Desk: We offer the top rail in 24 ft. lengths that you cut to your desired length (e.g. 12'). Then install with the 1 3/4" under-rail post providing a continuous top rail solution. For this solution please contact me (Dan H., Madden Mfg @ 800.248.1520) and we will create a customized solution which then is turned over to your local Home Depot Store Pro Desk. There is no additional cost for this service and can be accomplished in a 5-10 minute conversation. Or if you would like, you may email to me a project sketch ( and a Home Depot Pro Desk Associate will contact you within 24 hrs with the solution and pricing. See photo "solution 3 and U/R Post in photo "EZ Railing Diagram." Thank you for your consideration, Dan

Customer Reviews

3 in. x 3 in. x 38 in. White Aluminum Post Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The railing post The end product, if installed correctly, is excellent. A primary concern would be in its installation: skill and tools. You need both, especially a chop saw and impact driver/drill, depending upon which surface the railing is being installed. In my case, a second story application required four-foot segments (code) which means a lot of cutting. Also, be careful when ordering that the proper amount of posts, railings, couplings, post covers, etc., are ordered. Read descriptions carefully. For example, when ordering a railing, you DO NOT get necessary posts--just the balusters and rails. Also mentioned casually, for a nicely finished system, the post base covers are required. Pricey additions!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than met my expectations. Love this manufacturers products. Excellent quality. Comes with all of the mounting hardware necessary for work or concrete mounting. Love that it comes with the cap. Can be mounted as shipped or a decorative base cover can be purchased for a few dollars more. I've already been recommending this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Posts! These posts and the bases that come with them are of excellent quality. Unlike what it seems to say in the instructions, they came with all of the hardware necessary to install them to either wood or concrete, and to attach the posts proper to their bases. One glitch -- the instructions say to cross-bolt the posts to the bases with two 1/4 inch bolts, one above the other, one inch apart. However, the instructions don't tell you how far from the bottom of the post the lower bolt should be. Given the height of the vertical projection of the base, I chose to put the bolts at 1 inch and 2 inches from the bottom of the post. That worked well for securely attaching the post to the base. Unfortunately, the upper bolt then interfered with the decorative base cover. I had about 3/4 inch of space under the bottom of the cover when I assembled it. Fortunately, I had some 3/4 expanded PVC plank that made a nice filler for that space.
