Customer Questions & Answers

What does elevation have to do with it?

The description says the unit is good up to 4500' elevation. Is this because of expected temperatures above that elevation or does it have to do with the amount of oxygen in the air? I live at 5600' in SE Arizona. Is there a different model that would work better here?
Asked by: Stoderlele
This has to do with the concentration of oxygen within the atmosphere at that elevation. The appliance needs lots of oxygen to burn the gas properly. The higher the elevation the less oxygen there is in the atmosphere. In order for the gas appliance burn cleanly and safely the engineers design it to burn at a certain minimum oxygen concentration. Above that there is just not enough oxygen in the air to support the flame properly resulting in CO formation and possible contamination. CO is a deadly gas for humans. Also, without enough oxygen for the appliance, it will create soot and clog itself.

What is the efficiency of the unit?

Asked by: Rich
This is a Williams 3003622 wall furnace and the AFUE rating is 66%, which is pretty low efficiency. However, if you're only using it in the garage when you're working in there it may not matter.

Can I install this furnace in the state of Massachusettes?

Does it comply with Massachusettes regulations?
Asked by: slickster
You need a mass approval product number to see if it's been approved my guess is that it has not since we're moving away from standing pilot

Customer Reviews

30,000 BTU/Hr Direct-Vent Furnace Natural Gas Heater with Wall or Cabinet-Mounted Thermostat is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 136.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Heater, Excellent Value I bought this heater to heat my back porch. The area I needed to heat is about 15X10, no heat run and many drafts. The heater does an excellent job of heating the area. The packaging was not the best but I escaped with no damaged parts. Installation was a little challenging but that is probably because I am not a heating and cooling person. All in all I would recommend this heater to anyone who wants to heat a good sized space that a space heater just will not keep up with. I added a programmable thermostat to knock the heat down at night and during the day when we are not around. The price is fair for what this heater is capable of...

I bought it because several reviews said they heat 900 sq ft with it. I cannot heat my 800 sq ft even with the added on blower. I've used it 2 years now--winter in Los Angeles which is not too cold. It still works. It fits in the place I need it too but it doesn't heat the room enough to make a difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice The heater works better than expected. The blower accessory however was poorly designed for this heater. I've rotated the blower 90 degrees and now it blows heat out into the room rather than at the floor. All in all, it was a great purchase.
