that depends on your old plug and the size of the wire in the run.
That said if you are removing an old 220 plug to install this one then yes.
turn off the power at the baker, move the wires 1 at a time checking to be sure you move y to y x to x and n to n
the old wire should be 8 Gage at least if its a long run to the baker box use larger wire to prevent heat buildup.

Thank you for your inquiry. Without knowing exactly what wires are coming to the current receptacle, I cannot confidently answer this question. If you are unsure of your wiring, please contact a qualified licensed electrician. Please refer to the attached image for L6-30R wiring.

Can I use this outlet for my 220v 4,800 watt Scotle Rework Sation?

Hello,

I have a Scotle HR-460C BGA Rework station that runs off 220VAC / 240VAC. It draws around 4,800 watts. They don't come wired up. Ohm's law tells me 20-amp would be enough (240 * 20 = 4,800). I'd like to go a bit over though. I have a double-pole 30-amp breaker that isn't currently hooked up. I planned on running 10/2 MC from the panel to the work room (about 25 feet away, maybe a little more). Would this outlet be a good choice? I know more about DC than AC.

Thanks.
