Glass is easy to cut if you mark your dimensions accurately, I use a fine point felt tip pen to be very accurate. Mark both ends and use a straight edge tool such as a ruler to guide your cutter. The simplest one to use is the one with an oiler built into the tip, it lubricates the cutter wheel as it scores the glass. Don't press to hard, only enough to where it sounds like it's lightly 'sizzling' as you cut. The pressure must remain the same as indicated by what you hear. Then lightly press down, on the piece after you place it on a straight edge of a table with your cut aligned along the edge. Cutting on a table top gives the best result and if you use a piece of short length carpet for the surface of the table it makes it quite easy. I learned from some very masterful glaziers. Read Less

Answer:
There are round glass drills usually brass with diamond grit to do the cutting. Go slow and use anti-freeze for lubrication. It helps to use putty around the area to keep the fluid in place, make a ring of putty larger than the hole and press it down for a seal.

I've had success using a commercial grade sandblaster to make holes in glass. You may call around to a few places or maybe even start with a local glass shop.
Good Luck!

Does Home Depot offer custom glass shelves? I have a cabinet but one of the shelves broke and am looking for a replacement. It came with 2 shelves but one shattered/broke and I am looking to get a custom shelf that is cut and designed (it has a bit of a beveled design on the front edge) the same.
