Though the Home Depot site indicates that these bulbs as dimmable the manufactures web site indicates that these are only dimmable via the HomeBrite App on your smart phones. Has anyone tried using a standard wall switch dimmer to control theses bulbs. Again the manufacturers site indicates that normal wall dimmers will lead to prematue bulb failure. Has anyone else had experience with these bulbs in a non HomeBrite situtation an dimmer???

In my home, these are being dimmed by Lutron switches which are electronic. However, I can't see any reason why you couldn't use a standard dimmer.
I will say that in a group of 8, the electronic dimmer may not have enough of a load for the lamps to completely go out. Leaving a single halogen bulb in the string will go out. Yea,h this sorta defeats the purpose.

If the total amount of wattage presented to the electronic dimmer exceeds 35 watts, as it does in one of my strings, the electronic switch will turn bulbs completely off.
This Feit Electric 35W Equivalent Sof White LED bulb uses 4.1 watts. Add up the total number of bulbs controlled by the electronic switch. If the total load is better than 35 watts, the string should dim completely out.

What's important is to not use Triac or forward phase cut dimmers. Something like a reverse phase cut lutron LED / CFL compatible dimmer is what you want.

However, the packaging and product description states that the bulbs are dimmable. WIthout any exceptions provided in the product description, they can be assumed compatible with normal dimmer switches. If they aren't, the worst thing that will happen is they burn out prematurely. So buy them, hold on to the receipt, and if they burn out because you've got them on a dimmer, then take them back. Read Less

Hesitant to order as I’m reading “Dimmable" in description while seeing "do not use with dimmers" on a picture of the product itself on this website. So which is it?

Answer:
The first product image of the bulb only is incorrect. The second image shows the correct bulb in the packaging, with a "dimmable" description visible.
If you check Feit's website for the product number, the bulb shown is consistent with the second picture on HD's website. Feit's description on their website also says "dimmable."

We just changed out the Halogen lights with the new ceiling fixture two weeks ago - we are happy with the lighting as is. I know they say dimmable - with this ceiling fixture we are not going to try that even thru an app.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 66 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Many homes have recessed ceiling lights or yards of track lighting and the number of halogen MR16 lamps might easily total 25 or 30, as it does in my home. The halogen lamps that these LED unit replace are hot and require 35 or more watts to operate. These replacement LED's at 3000K are whiter and appear to produce more light than the 35 watt equivalent halogens. With no heat! The money savings are amazing. In my home,. 25 halogens, at 35 watts each total 875 watts. The same number of LEDs, at 4.1 watts each, total 102.5 watts. An no extra heat generated. To me this is a no-brainer. The LED's at my Home Depot sell for under $7.00. Halogens can be had in three-pacs for about the same price in some locations. The halogens are on the way out the door like last year's CFL's. If you are a builder, the halogen ceiling fixtures required a housing because of the heat generated. While I'm not sure about local codes, you might not need that big metal box in the ceiling if yo go with the LED's. Another problem with halogens is that when they are dimmed, the color (Kelvin temp) drifts toward an unpleasant yellow. The LED's remain white. Food, wall hangings, furniture and yes, you! will all look better! October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by More light!! These bulbs put out a softer but brighter light than the halogen bulbs we previously had. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the investment I was spending $5.50 per bulb replacing them every 6 months. And I have 15 bulbs. Thank goodness LED hit the scene with this type of bulb. I love a well lit kitchen and these bulbs are very bit as bright as the older halogen bulbs. And thank goodness they don't even heat up the kitchen the way the old bulbs did. Well worth it. I am glad I did this. September 20, 2016
