Answer:
I've done some research and water-based LATEX seems to be the better choice. No yellowing and cracking over time.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BEWARE of Code compiance--A costly mistake I live in southeast Coastal Plain: hurricane country. A separate windstorm insurance policy is required since insurance companies don't cover wind/storm. I installed this door--major improvement over previous door. BUT I went to pay my Windstorm insurance premium I discovered exterior doors are among the improvements requiring a special inspection by Texas Dept of Insurance DURING installation. I had installed a week earlier, so local inspector (free) would not inspect it so I can get my insurance policy. Without inspection/approval, NO insurance for wind/storm on my home!! This now requires a certified engineer to inspect for very specific code requirements. I looked up code on line and found it requires 4 hinges instead of the 3 that come with the door, and special specs for screw type, length of screws, number of screws, location of screws, and pressure ratings for the door itself (fine print on the door jamb label). Even a brand name deadbolt/lockset is specified!!! Inspecting engineer (after installation) charges $300 for 1 inspection (if he finds it was done right) and $400 for expected two inspections (one to tell you it is wrong and how to fix it, and another after you fix it). And they only take cash/check!!! Home Depot should inform customers in this area who buy ANY exterior door that a Windstorm inspection is required DURING installation. A no-brainer for customer service in this area. I must now pay for re-installation and for the inspections. A cost that triples the price of the original door and installation!!! I could have got a much higher quality door for that kind of money if Home Depot had informed me the inspection would be required. Door itself is fine. Secure, with weatherstripping and metal threshold. June 18, 2015
