Answer:
NO. The shade would block the Passive IR sensor (Pasive IR needs clear field of view...).

Answer:
No, according to the instructions it needs to be non-housed. I think the shade would block the sensor. If it worked at all that is.

Answer:
Probably not. It's PIR is not the most sensitive in the world. The other product (which provides a 180 degree zone) seems to work WELL in the spaces where it mattered. I'd suggest one of those if you can make THAT work or a different vendor's solution

Answer:
Yes without a doubt! if it works in a light fixture that's in a closet with a 7'8" ceiling it sure would work there!

It detects my small dog every time - so I'm guessing your cat will turn it on too. Good luck.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap junk.... I am almost never disappointed by the quality of items I purchase at Home Depot but this is an exception! This was not inexpensive at $25 and I would expect better quality. Here's what happened when I went to install it... When I screwed the light bulb into this product, the threaded metal part the bulb screws into immediately broke! This metal piece was far flimsier than a twist off metal cap on a bottle! Don't waste your time with this product. I will be returning it for a refund today. Note to Home Depot... Please stop stocking this until the manufacturer can produce a better quality product. It's low quality is not in line with your good reputation. August 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what was needed The sensor is what I was looking for my garage, using a CFL bulb. I open the door from the house to the garage, and it activates as soon as I step into the garage. It's not attractive, which is why garage use is fine. Seems costly at $25. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheaply made This item is very cheap, but it works I needed a light for a closet that houses our 2 litter boxes. Our ceilings are high and we do not have wall switches. We would just leave the light on and well after going through a bunch of burnt bulbs thought it was finally time for something better. This light stays on for a good 15-20minutes which I feel like is to long. April 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not recommended I was disappointed in the product. You need to be very close (about 1 or 2 feet) for the light to turn on. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Needed a light with no switch - this was it. Needed a light with no switch - this was it. I needed an auto light for a basement application and this was exactly what worked. April 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised. Only time will tell if it lives up to the price. The older (and cheaper) models I was replacing gave up the ghost repeatedly after a couple of years. Fortunately they had three year warranties and were replaced with minimal cost (Postage). This model has a 360 dome instead of the window on the side that only did 160 degrees in the older model. Appears to be rather cheaply built, which is why I think they are priced so high, you are paying for the replacements that will eventually be needed during the 5 year warranty period. Do NOT throw out the packaging nor the receipt. They install without issue, and work fine in my cold basement (Something the older models did not, they would stop working when cold and only come back when it warmed up. Have NOT had that issue with these units). February 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed On the previous version of this Light Control the angle of the sensors were not good for the ceiling in the laundry room where I wanted it. The ceiling was high when you walked in you were just below the sight of the sensors. I used socket extenders to lower the controller but it was not consistent sometimes you would have to wave at it not good when carrying a basket of clothes...... .. Also the extenders would become loose and you would have to tighten them. from time to time. I was going to get another type where you can aim the sensor but it only works in one direction and there is a door at each end of the room, While looking at that type I notice they had changed the sensor on this model It sees down more directly as well as side to side problem solved. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Too Big and Bulky. This product was too big and bulky. Therefore it didn't work for my light fixture. I wanted to put this inside the light fixture above the front door. But it's way to big to fit for the fixture. I had to return it the next day back to home depot. In theory it's a nice product, but not if your fixture has a horizontal covering. I suppose it would fit with a vertical cover. Oh well. February 10, 2016
