can the center drawer be modified

I am planning to buy this as a regular cabinet to save money.. can the fake drawer blank be removed and a real drawer be built in the the space and does it match the saize of currently sold drawers with this collection
Asked by: Pete
The front can be used with a drawer that you build but it will be a different width owing to the width of the opening. I'm not where I can measure the opening, but if memory serves me it is around 34 inches which will result in a 33 inch drawer depending upon the style of drawer glides you choose to use.

Can this sink base cabinet be used as a free-standing kitchen island, not fixed to the floor, but seated in the middle of floor without wall support?

Asked by: TAM
The unit is not finished on the ends or the back. In fact the back is open. That being said, unfinished sides are available at Home Depot as is 1/4 inch oak veneer plywood that can be used to dress up the rear. The unit will have to be anchored to the floor with treated wood blocking.

Does it come with a counter top?

I don't want to spend a lot on a counter top. Does this have a top, or is it open? Just planning on using this in a laundry room for storage.
Asked by: Liz
No, it does not come with a top, it is open. You could put a piece of wood on top or buy a low cost top, a 4 footer can be purchased for around 50 bucks.

Then attached the 72" countertop. I also attached the kick plate, and the two side panels. Finally I varnished the unfinished oak. It all went together without any problems and the quality is very good for the price. And the countertop required 2 endcaps for the unfinished ends, which IRON on to melt the pre-coated glue. I think it turned out very well. The staff at the Montgomery store were very helpful in putting this all together for us. Thanks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fulfills Basic Needs If you are not picky about high quality stuff, and need something to replace absolute junk, this will work for you. I replaced a complete piece of junk, under the sink base cabinet, that didn't even have a backside to it...it was placed up against the bare wall. So, adding this under sink cabinet to what was much less than what this is, is an upgrade for me. The price made it affordable. I did have to drill a large hole in the back of the cabinet to accommodate the water pipes. The two little drawers are cute and nice to have. I am female, and didn't have any problem getting this out of my truck and into the house. I'll post a before and after picture to give you a better idea what it may look like. Would probably give 4.5 stars if able.

Drawer faces were installed a little crooked but were easy to get straight. Stained the Oak Face and painted ends. Installed Ceramic tile on top with Oak border. Turned out well. Very happy with end result. It has a lot of storage.

I am using this cabinet for the kitchen base of a bus conversion to a RV project. It took spray paint and a ton of sanding very well.It is lightweight and has plenty of storage. It had enough room for us to put a RV fridge inside of it as well as a stove and sink on top. The sides of the cabinet could not be spray painted as it is made out of a different wood than the front but it took wood paint very nicely. I loved it so much that I bought the corresponding small cabinet for storage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No divider I bought this because 60" was perfect for what I needed. However I did not notice there were no dividers between the sink basin part and the two cabinets on the side. Who needs 60" under their sink basically making the two doors on the sides useless cuz you are not going to store stuff with the chemicals one normally stores under their sink. I wish i would have bought the 36" base with two 12 inch cabinets for the side it would have been more user friendly.

Our cabinets were Kraftmade and they were a repurposed set. Our sink base was in poor shape, so we opted for a quit fix. Cabinet looks ok...the routed edge was real close. This cabinet was built terrible, I had to add solid piece of wood were it attached to the wall. And added two small brackets at the corners in back. Looks ok, matched ok, but the materials which this was made is junk. That with the poor construction means a quick fix isn't always good.

I discovered a short while after bringing this in the house that it brought with it some sort of weird beetle bugs that I never saw before. This has presented an extra expense because now I am going to have to figure how out to get rid of these bugs. Apparently, they like the wood cabinets and are easily transported in these cabinets. I read on the internet what to do and it suggests you vacuum out the cabinets real good and spray disinfectant all over them. If I would have known, I would have done this before bringing them in the house. Learn from my mistake.
