Bought this along with a few rolls of packing tape. We're moving out of state and have a lot of packing to do. This tape gun doesn't measure up.
Flimsy, shoddy design...the type mass-produced in an overseas factory with zero quality control. Worked decently for the first roll of tape that was included with it, but subsequent reloads (of the same brand pre-loaded with the gun) saw major issues. By the third reload, the tape would snap back onto the roller and coat itself, requiring the bane of every packer's existence: the dreaded process of finding the tape end and trying to peel it off, only to result in the tape adhering to itself so well it tears the rest of the tape with it.
Blades were dull...felt sharp to the touch but wouldn't cut tape, usually resulting in having to do some serious wrist arcing to get the tape to cut against the blades, This was evident from the very first use with the pre-loaded tape.
Adjusting tension wheel has no effect. Also by the third reload, the tape would no longer stay on the wheel...as if it warped or simply had met the end of its projected life cycle. It would slide right off...sort of like trying to put a monster struck tire on a fishing pole - just not gonna stay. I got less than 30% of my packing done before this gun proved its uselessness.
Stick to a better brand. You get what you pay for. Have had no trouble since grabbing the Scotch gun, This piece of junk is where it belongs - buried in a landfill, taken out with last week's trash.

I had to adjust where the tape went so that the roll would actually stay on. After that it works great.

Cheap and frustrating. Easier to use roll of tape without this thingl. I have had dispensers which have worked better. I will look for another brand.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Queenie52 Best buy ever
Purchased and while waiting for delivery, read so many negative comments. When it came, I remembered the good reviews and used their technique, I loved this. I had to pack a house alone by putting about 100 boxes together, it was a breeze. I used a lot of tape, because it was just so easy it really saved me from using a packing company. Best price ever.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Pharmacist77386 Gun malfunctions after very little use
This the second time I have purchased this product. The first time, I thought I broke it.
This time I know I didn't break it. The gun stops resisting the tape. You have to tighten
the screw each time you lay down a strip.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Howard Great purchase
Works great now. I had a lot of problems at first with this dispenser at first. The tape kept getting stuck on the metal tape guide on the bottom. I finally realized that I needed to tighten the tape roller nut. It needs a little friction to keep from having a "backlash." Once tightened, I can tape really fast and the tape does not get stuck anymore
I love now!!! Easily worth $10.00

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tapingking waste of time and money
I never write reviews and am literally stopping in middle of job to write this review. Do not waste your money (or time) with this product. Along with all of the accurate observations of the first review (which i wish I would have read before purchase), iI would like to add that majority of time is spent rethreading the tape thru the roller which invariably sticks to the roller. This in turn not only takes more valuable time, it wastes tape. I would NOT recommend to anyone.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wink11 much easier than the freebies sent with kits
tape dispenser works very well after a short learning curve. I found that initially I kept getting the sticky side of the tape stuck to the curved guide, I think because of the angle I was twisting my hand in cutting the end off. Then the next attempt to tape would require me to unstick the tape first. I did figure out why and have not had the problem since. Much easier to use than the freebie one that comes with the various kits.
