These really smooth the wood quickly. they fit the hand nicely and can be squeezed some for a better grip. The attached pictures show each side after 40 back and forth strokes on a piece of white oak. You can see some of the wood powder in the channels. The corners work really nice on inside corners of projects. These will help get those projects done quickly and easy to store away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sponge I've used so far I've recently started derusting some old tools that I have. The sponges I've tried have either stopped abrading after a short time or just fallen apart. This one really works. I need the flexibility of the sponge to get at rust in corners and recesses in the tools or to work around factory marking or etching. The 3M sponge has very good flexibility allowing me to get into very tight corners. The opposite side with the abrasive dots works really well when I need to clean a small spot without marring the surrounding area. The flexibility of the sponge is great and it is showing no signs of losing its abrasive ability. If this one ever wears out I'll definitely get another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good For DIY projects I like to do DIY projects at home and 3M ultra Flexible sanding sponge came really handy to me. First of all, it has dual sides, patterned side and regular side. I painted my table and used it for trimming the paint. I would say, it worked well. I also liked the fact that it is washable and reusable. It is nicely made and of quality material. I recommend them! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Project life-saver! Who ever invented the sanding sponge should get a genius award! I don't use my sanding blocks anymore. No need. This is what you want. This 3M is nice because it has the groovy side and the flat side. Best of both worlds. The groovy side works to channel dust, or to bend to curves. The flat side -- used with a light touch -- allows for nice smooth sanding. I use these on all kinds of surfaces. Wood and drywall are most typical. These help to get in the corners when touching up drywall corners. Works better than my sanding blocks ever did! And they are long lasting. I only end up replacing these every few years. I say stick with the conventional block shape. There are other shapes with acute angles. Use those if you must, but start here first. Finally, get a few! I have a 220, 180 and 120. That covers 99% of my sanding needs right there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So great for detailed areas needing sanding 3M sent me this great Ultra Flexible Sanding Sponge to test out for free. I've been sanding furniture with a lot of detail, including a table with spiral carved legs. The sponge has made it easier to get into the grooves and smooth down the paint, giving me a smooth finish on the legs. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes sanding contours a breeze These sanding sponges are great when you are working contours in wood. Also they can be good for those heavy handed people as they will keep you from sanding to much. Ive been using these sponges for a long time and always have them at the ready in my wood shop. If I am sanding bare wood then I will use the flat side, but If I am sanding something like a primer then I always use the side with the channels. The channels really do aid in keeping the sponge from clogging up with what ever you are sanding. Even with that though. These sponges will still clog, but I quick blast with an air hose will have it free of debris and sanding like new again. They can be used offer and over again as I do with mine, which is nice. One thing I do recommend is that you take care near edges and corners as it will tear the sponge especially on the grid side. Overall I think these are good sanding sponges. They are not a cure-all, but they are good to keep in the shop and see a lot of use in my wood shop.
