This tape is well suited for your walls. Make sure the surface that you have masked hasn't been painted for 24 hours. I usually wait 48 hours.

Answer:
I used it on paint that I applied a day earlier with no problem. I would say a few hours would be a sufficient amount of dry time.

Yes! You can use ScotchBlue(TM) Painter's Tape for Delicate Surfaces on any painted surface that had been allowed to dry 24 hours or longer. We also have this information on the packaging so you can refer to it when you're in the middle of your project. Hopefully this will help get your project done quickly, thanks!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disaster! I always buy cheap painter's tape at the dollar store but this one time I needed the tape to work perfectly. While it's always a big risk to use tape on a painted surface, I was fooled by the 'delicate surface' description. I ended up ruining my project with this expensive tape. The adhesive is too strong! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't even bother! You'll end up with bleed through if you've got any texture at all on your wall. Edge-lock is anything but that! Now I have another project- touching up my other paint where I had bleed through after my accent wall was complete. May 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible, Nothing but Cons: Doesn't stick to anything, peels off instantly, won't support any weight, hard to rip cleanly. This maybe by design, since it is suppose too be for delicate surfaces, but it sure sucks for everything else. July 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't bother! We purchases this tape for our frahly painted white trim. By the time I got from one side of the room to the other it was already pulling away and curling up. It was a complete waste of time and money! June 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by relief! I was in a pickle and could not tape areas that needed to be protected from paint, but regular tape ruined the finish. This was great! May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Edgelock? Used 2" Frogtape on top and bottom, crisp edges. Unfortunately the smaller details I needed 1" tape. I tried the 3m edgelock and it cost me a lot of heartache. I had to touch up every line, very time consuming. September 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fills a niche in the Professionals toolbox I work primarily on Historic buildings and boats and do a LOT of taping off of sections for sanding, painting or just protection while working nearby. This tape is always in my prep kit in several sizes. I had some edge adhesion issues at first but found that if you wipe down with a damp rag the moisture will trigger the "Edge-Lock" and leave a very crisp line everytime. Even after a week or so it comes off easily if pulled with a sharp crease at a downward angle. I work with a lot of high dollar, high VOC, high tech paints/varnishes on high dollar projects, many that require several coats sanded in between each coat. I often tape to the original tape for the sanding then remove the second layer for the next coat. The one draw back is the printing on the tape, it comes off when wiped down with alcohol or acetone for a final surface cleaning before finish is applied and unless careful the residue can mar the clean prepped area. I wish you made it without the printing in a pro pack at least. Some people call boat owners "Picky", I prefer the term "Particular", they want very high quality finishes, this particular tape helps me provide that. I use lots of different tapes for differing surfaces, projects and processes. This stuff has it's place in my kit that no other tape can match. I use enough that price is always an issue, generally at least 6 rolls per project of the delicate surface tape alone. I'd prefer to pay a bit less of course. August 9, 2015
