The tape is no better or worse than other painter's tape as far as its purpose goes but when I tried to remove it after the painting was finished it removed not only the paint but also took off the surface of the ceiling it was taped to. Instead of saving me time and work it has increased it because now I have to retouch not only the wall and trim paint but also the ceiling paint. I will not be buying this tape again.

Ah, ScotchBlue paint tape, we've always had a hate-hate relationship. Lots of bleed-under, taking large chunks of my ceiling paint off even if not freshly painted--you are a horrible painting tape.
And then you got competition from FrogTape, and came out with Edge-Lock. I thought "hey, maybe this time they got it right" and against my better judgment gave you another try.
Never again. I went over every edge twice with my fingernail to make sure it was smooth against the ceiling. Still had lots of bleed-under, and took large swaths of paint off my ceiling.
I would use words stronger than what is allowed on a family website to describe your product. In any event, I am never using you again. Stick to packaging tape if you want to be in this industry sector.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KochvilleDi Great tape, very little bleed under
It's a bit expensive, but well worth the money. The only thing I tape when painting a room are the baseboards, to avoid splattering them when rolling the walls. After I put this tape on, I went over the top edge of the base board with my finger nail to ensure it was sealed good. I always remove tape shortly after I'm done painting; I don't like it to be on any longer than necessary. And I never leave it on any longer than the end of the second day. I've had too many experiences of paint coming off with the tape. Sometimes that means taping twice if I have to stretch a paint job out. I used the same "rules" for this tape. It came off very easy, didn't take any paint off of the walls and I only had a few tiny spots of bleed through on a total of 6 walls. Wow, I was impressed.
This tape was the best that I've ever used for baseboards, and I will be using it again!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unglued Tape does not adhere well.
I used the tape in two ways: 1. to seal up the cracks around my windows inside and out for a job that will kick up a lot of dust outside. Within the first few hours and even before the dust started blowing, the tape has been peeling off. It is stuck to a metal frame and also to the glass on the window. The tape does not even adhere to itself. 2. the tape was used to tape a sheet of plastic over a window in a door. The tape is touching the plastic and the door. The tape is again, peeling off the door. Again, where I chose to overlap the tape, it is not even sticking to the tape. In both cases, the edges and the ends are peeling up. I will not be purchasing this tape for any re-construction or painting jobs again.

This tape is awful! When it was removed it ripped along the painted edge and even took the new paint along with the old paint off the wall! Will never buy again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Taper4 Worst Tape Ive ever used
Bought this tape for a large project, 14 day removal ?? good luck getting the tape to even stick to the wall for 14 minutes. This tape fell off the wall every time I turned around to tape something else and made my project 10x harder than it needed to be

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by nobluetape You're almost better off using nothing.
This tape leaks like a BP oil rig. You're better off using nothing at all. I have to assume it's inability to keep paint from getting under it is directly tied to the fact that it doesn't stick to anything. Well it does manage to stick to one surface, much like saran wrap, the only thing this tape seems to stick to is itself. I'm kicking myself for not just going somewhere else to buy the frog tape I usually buy when HD was out of stock. Half way through my paint project I pulled this off the molding and just used an edging tool. Waste of time, waste of money. Do not buy.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Desert Rat not the old quality...
What happened? I started with an "old" roll of 2090 Scotch-Blue that I had for a project last year.Well, I couldn't pull more than 8 - 12 inches before it tore itself in that infuriating "V". This hadn't happened with your tape before - the cheap brands, yes it happens all the time. Thought it was just old, so I opened a brand new Scotch-Blue 2093 roll. The same thing happened. Not only that, but I couldn't get the pieces to stick together as I masked off the door frame. I've been doing my own DIY painting for over 40 years and the new stuff just isn't the same quality as the old khaki colored masking tape available at the corner hardware store. Just saying...
