I know this is an item that most people won't bother to read reviews on, but in case a beginner painter is looking, I figured I would put this in here. This was my first time using painters tape, this says it won't cause surface damage for the 14 days - THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!. I have textured walls and ceilings, and unfortunately, used this product to tape off ceilings and all trim in the entire house (I did a whirlwind week of painting). I spent $50 total on tape for the house, and it ripped the paint off the trim and ceilings, and the paint still bled under the tape so I had to go around the ceiling and even out the line by hand. I would have had better results doing it that way from the beginning. The trim is no problem to repaint, but the ceilings are more demanding and time consuming, so I'm leaving it for the time being. Don't waste your money (and ceiling paint job). Just do the work by hand and invest in a good roller and you'll have a better paint job.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Catlady I use only ScotchBlue painter's tape when I paint.
I have used ScotchBlue painter's tape for years, and I will only use ScotchBlue painter's tape when I paint. I have used the narrow tape, but I prefer the 2" wide tape.
Recently, I used it when staining and painting 48 panes on French doors (96 sides). Neither the stain or the three polyurethane topcoats seeped under the tape's edge.
Presently, I'm using ScotchBlue painter's tape to attach paper templates to the wall before hanging pictures. I've never had ScotchBlue painter's tape remove paint on drywalls.
ScotchBlue costs more than some painter's tape, but it is worth it because it does a better job and I can leave ScotchBlue on drywall or wood without it permanently sticking.
