How does the water drain into this rain water tank? Does it drain from our rain gutter downspout? Can you post a picture of the top?

Hi, I purchased this Montana Sandstone Rain Water Tank rain barrel. It has holes about 12" above the bottom on both sides with plugs in the holes. I don't know how to get the plug out to install the faucet/spigot. Also, the faucet/spigot is confusing to me. It has a piece attached to one end - the end that looks to me like it should be the end that screws into the barrel. It doesn't show how to install the diverter from the downspout to the barrel. It appears I will have to drill a hole in the top of the barrel to put a diverter tube in it to fill the container The barrel came in makeshift packaging and there weren't any instructions included with it. Can you provide me with instructions or show me where online I might be able to find them?
