My wife and I live in a house that was built in the 70's and never had a central unit installed. For years we've ran multiple 120v heaters in various places throughout the house (massive fire hazard I know!). On a recommendation from a family member I checked this heater out and am VERY glad I did. It came fully assembled in the box, all I had to do was plug it in. After paying an electrician $125 to wire a 240v plug in my living room, it was ready to go. I've now spent a total of $425 and my house (1400sq ft) is a comfortable 70 degrees with the new heater set just below the middle of it's dial. It cuts on and off with a decent degree of frequency and seems to be vastly more energy efficient than my previous heating arrangement (not to mention way safer!). Compared to the $8k I would need to have a panel upgrade and a brand new HVAC installation, $425 is pretty sweet to have this quality of heat in my home. If you are thinking to use this to heat a workshop or garage, I would assume you'll be very pleased indeed as it's currently heating my house just fine as I write this.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NCGirl Just what I wanted!
We added a beautiful sun room to the back of our house, even had a cooling/heating unit installed in the wall as we wanted to use the room year round. But guess what? The expensive heater took forever to heat the room, and never did heat it completely. Plus it was really LOUD. So, I started investigating online as to what would be the best type of heater for a cold room that is ALL windows and was directed to this unit. Convection heating was recommended, which is what this unit is. And boy, does it work! Even on the coldest mornings, it takes an hour or two to heat the room, but it works great, the room is toasty warm and stays that way all day long. This isn't aesthetically pleasing, but it does exactly what I wanted it to do. LOVE IT! (It does require a dedicated 240 outlet, which we already had.) Highly recommended.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Catmandu The Five Star rating says it all.
First, let me state I live on San Francisco's East Bay. Winters here are most mild compared to the Northeast from wench I came. My workshop here in California was previously a 3-car garage with a 12' ceiling. The two 120amp space heaters were not doing a good job of heating the entire space; I had to place them but a few feet away from my work area for any benefit. After converting the circuit breaker box to 240amp it raised the temperature in the entire shop 10 degrees in an hour. Only downside I can expect is how much my electric bill will increase now that I've doubled the output. A small price to pay for being able to work in comfort.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vinmar Why change something that works so well
I've had one of these heating my 24' x 30' garage for over 15 years now and it is still going strong. The garage is under the house and insulated. On the coldest days, 10 degrees or so, the garage is about 45 degree's and this heater will warm it easily to over 60 in little over an hour. For me that is a comfortable temp to work in. Of course on warmer days or letting it run longer it will get much warmer and it does keep up quite well not running continuously. All I do for maintenance is blow it out with the air gun on occasion. I'm glad to see these are still available all too often you find something that works right and they stop making it. If I ever need to replace mine I will buy this same one again no question.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HWChicago Outstanding!!! Keeps the Chicago winter outside where it belongs
Over the past few years our cinder block walled maintenance shop would get down to 30 - 40 degrees in the winter here in Chicago. I purchased this in the hopes of at least taking the chill out of the shop so that we could wear a sweatshirt or something instead of our winter coats all the time. We put it up on the wall about 8 feet high and to our surprise it has not only taken the chill out of the room but actually made it comfortable. The shop is consistently in the 65 - 70 degree range even with the -18 degree below zero we had this past week. This heater gets 5 stars from us.
